Re: A short discussion on 'The Photographers Wife'

Well I think that Hearsay site is a little moribund. I tried getting into it via the direct link from Google, but I just got a message like this: Oops, traffic jam! Sorry, we could not perform the action you requested. Please wait a few seconds and refresh the page. So I went back to Google and used...

Re: A short discussion on 'The Photographers Wife'

I found that by Googling 'Stina Nordenstam Book'. Bizarre what turns up when you throw in a few curveball terms.Fier's interview was done in 1996, ie not long after PW was issued. I wonder what about those three tracks didn't work for him? OK I've piggybacked it onto a Photographer's Wife Facebook p...

Re: A short discussion on 'The Photographers Wife'

Reviving this (ancient!!) thread because I've just found an interesting snippet from the online Hearsay magazine in interview with Anton Fier (drummer and prime mover of the Golden Palominos). Incidentally the link in RobB's post above is now a dead end. Anyway I found this: (Hearsay) What can you t...

Re: wonderful Winter Killing cover by Sylvan Esso

Nice to see mention of their 'favourite favourite favourite' (artist) and they don't even remember the title of Stina's last album?  Well, they're American...they can't get beyond tired platitudes like 'awesome'. I'm intrigued by mention of the 'vid'...a video for Winter Killing? don...

Re: wonderful Winter Killing cover by Sylvan Esso

Very nice, Adam. For anyone starting to watch, Winter Killing actually comes at 14.12. They've sampled the original backing by the sound of it. Doesn't seem to go as far as 49 minutes, though?? so I couldn't find them talking about it...but I didn't listen to the rest. Meanwhile Adam - 1 post every ...

Re: Stina entry on ASCAP

Good find, RobB! Some of those titles (eg She bought a Rope, Changing Fortunes of Susanne D) I've seen before as lists from sets Stina did at the start of her career pre-MOAC - and others look like the names of quasi-jazz standards ('It Could Have Been You' IS a jazz standard, as is 'What's New' - S...

I've seen that before - it's definitely an old ad

Never ceases to amaze me how many people misinterpret the lyrics of that song.

Re: 2004 'Political' interview with Stina!!

Welcome here, Martin - especially as someone who has actually met Stina!

That was a great interview - and sadly she didn't make many more - she did a few more in '04, three in '05 and two in '06 ...and then nothing until the 'Tip of my Tongue' interview in 2013, since when - nothing.

Re: How are you today?

I'm very tempted to move up to Scotland especially as we have been having endless issues with horrible developer neighbour this year...and my son's up there (but he's planning to move back South soon) And then there's the midges....yes, we went armed with several bottles of SkinSoSoft (we call it Mi...

The seller has 295,000 pics up for sale... so I don't think he'll start lowering the price just yet.

Re: eBay pics

Might be the dates when they appeared in whatever paper it was. Funny how those pics - and there's loads more, mostly relating to Swedish celebs - are coming from Latvia. Latvia is (kind of) opposite Sweden as the crow flies (crookedly). Agree about the price. Be nice to have some hi-res scans, but ...

eBay pics

Presume people have spotted these? Highly priced, but i've found that if you copy the lo-res thumbnails of the pics and paste them onto a page of A4 or similar they still render pretty well. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stina-Nordenstam-Vintage-photograph-3137620/353172488973?hash=item523ab8830d:g:eY8...

Re: Marketa Irglova

Love 'Nimrod Ron on Tuba' - a bit like the Bonzos 'The Intro and the Outro' -'looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on Vibes' Emiliana Torrini sounds good on this. I heard a couple of her solo albums back in the day and found them very bland and dull, so this is a big improvement. And those l...

Re: How are you today?

Just back from a week in the far North of Sutherland, staying in a cottage by the side of a Loch (Eriboll), with Cape Wrath a few miles up the road and only the Arctic beyond that. Stunningly beautiful and unspoilt, though because of Covid they are getting more visitors than before (the staycation e...

Yep, nice - maybe a little long for its content, but hey. Would be good to see all the lyrics printed out.
