Re: How are you today?

And, after the whole Cambridge Analytica scandal, I've decided to quit Facebook. So maybe this board is up for a comeback. I did quite a bit of reading up on the Cambridge Analytica thing a while back, thanks, ironically, to a post my dear nemesis Spook put up on Facebook. Very fascinatin...

Re: How are you today?

Thank you Franck, it's good to see some people still posting here! I hadn't realised till today that it is four years since I've posted, man Facebook has a lot to answer for. It's rather nostalgic and lovely talking to people in a forum again, do you remember the days when that was our only op...

Re: How are you today?

Man, this place died a death, didn't it.

Had to pop in today to send a PM to Dave, just posting in here for old time's sake.

Somewhere in the world, I am sure, there are people who eat bats. :?

Re: How are you today?

Oh Paul, I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about! You are a decent, intelligent person. Being in management involves a certain amount of resistance from the shop floor workers, no matter how nice you are. The problems with this woman are to do with her personality, they would be...

Re: How are you today?

What I find strange is how the manager was able secure good enough references from her previous employment in order to get the job? :? She didn't need them. My personal belief is that she was hired on the basis of her physical appearance (tall and blonde), and no references were sought. Her previou...

Re: a thread for miscellaneous things we like

Ha, I know what you mean Rob!

Bats are totally fascinating to look at. My cat brought one in one night, how the hell she managed to catch a bat I don't know, she is a demon hunter - it's the only time I've been able to see one up close, they're completely amazing.

Re: How are you today?

Thanks Rob, yes it's a great shame that this person was given the job as manager - within a few days of the news getting around town, I had people come to me from three of her former workplaces warning me about her. This is a small town and because I've worked for long periods in local shops, I know...

Re: How are you today?

I'm back working in a little neighbourhood store, much like the one I worked in for nine years - it feels very familiar, so much so that I picked up all the till stuff on the first day. It's on the other side of town to where I live, so involves some walking to and from, but I'm feeling fi...

Re: How are you today?

Crikey, has nothing happened to anyone for a few months? Well my news is that I am now in my third new job within the space of a year. I've left my beloved little former Julian Graves store, with great sadness, basically because the manager who was taken on is a complete psycho and has mad...

I love how you can see its little bat facial features already in the first one! Very striking.

Re: Julianna Barwick

That's rather affecting. I like the girls' voices coming in over the more synthesised vocals. I'd imagine you could listen to that late at night as a bit of chill-out (although given the lyrics, it would be better if you had someone else there!)

Re: A deluge of albums this autumn.

The only one I'm really looking forward to is MutyaKeishaSiobhan. I tend to pick up older albums cheap now, there's not a lot in the current rock/pop music world that interests me at all. I'll always check out new stuff by old favourites like Radiohead, Polly Harvey, Bjork, but even they've somewhat...
