I always thought it was to do with 'Art' and 'Parvo' meaning,er,um,something in Latin.('A little',innit? or 'poor'or summat,'multum in parvo'??).So RobB's 'Pervofart' was close,LOL. Anyway it isn't what I thought.Or maybe it is? :D
Whatever welcome back Coimtho Cithmoich Cmithoi...Doc! :D
thanks for providing me yet ANOTHER explanation for 'parvoart'... [tup]
apart from my 'intended' meaning, the only other explanation i was able to come up with is that 'parvo' is a canine disease (a new one at that, first case diagnosed 1978) which is similar to distemper and seems to have 'jumped' from cats... bizarre. thus parvoart has a sort of non meaning similar to another of my musical inspirations, bark psychosis.

a cursory i-net check of latin coughed up this: "in parvo" = "in miniature"
brilliant - given that most of what i do is minimal and what i've been doing recently barely makes the 3 minute mark, that's very apt!

fascinating how many interpretations one can draw out of band names, song titles, lyrics etc. that the author hadn't given any consideration to but which makes sense somehow... shades of jung's collective consciousness maybe?

the cqd abbreviation of my unwieldy user name was 'coim', which without the 'h' would then be pronounced 'kim' - 'coimh' would be 'kiv'...

whatever [crazy]

hehe, this is one of those threads i've missed while being away for the whole month of july. Fun to read; at least now i understand the changes in usernames, which at first i thought i was going crazy myself... ;)

i liked parvoart; i thought it was a nice way to say pervert though :D

well about TWIS, i can only say it's a very well worked out album that shows the 'maturity' of an artist and i can imagine people seeing it being less creative, but i think it's very good, cause it takes everything from before and puts in an -indeed- close to perfection blend. Plus the lyrics and song compostions still make it highly innovative and creative for me. And it's an album you learn to appreciate more and more over time.

btw, is there a thread about the history of the stina forums; that would be nice to read and post about. It's fun to read some snippets here and there about the things that went on on CQD :)

Hmm,I might have a go when I have some time although I think someone like Paul (pgss) would be better qualified as he's been with Stina boards since way back.

I had the entire Barbie board in a PDF file, you know. Timothy (whatever happened to?) made it for me when I was running around crying and screaming as the board collapsed, and everyone else was laughing at me for being so attached to an internet board. :D :D

Unhappily the PC I stored it on went kaput, and the file with it.

I really must try and create new threads / topics but the problem is I get sidetracked reading these funny little threads from 14 years ago.

This was an interesting read though, that's the trouble as you say Rob, I too get sidetracked reading our old threads. 🙂 We had some good discussion back in the day, this was a rather great little group of people. 😎

Did anyone keep in touch with Coimthioch / Duncan, anyone know where he is now or what he's doing? I don't remember him posting much after this thread.

No, don't think he's been back since...(checks) 3rd April 2006...which was the day after he joined here. :o
Unless he changed his name from parvoart to something else.

Oh hang on, he became * and his last visit was June 22nd 2007

...but he could have become some other user name since.

These people who WILL keep on changing their usernames!

I can't even remember half my usernames now. 😅

I've been very good with the re-booted board though, I mean classic opportunity for a new username right there, and I've not even been tempted! (Largely because I am now OLD and would forget it and the password three seconds after I created them).

I think RobB's old suggestion of 'Bluesy McWinterBoots' had most of your old usernames in essence.

😅💖

I'm sure one of them was 'Alone at Night', or maybe 'A Walk in the Park'.

'Twas 'Alone At Night'. I'd forgotten that one!
I for one would never call you 'A Walk in the Park'
