Never Let Me Go

Post by RobB »

Never Let Me Go is one of those quaint tghought provoking slow moving poetic British films which will either stun you or bore you. Thankfully I fall into the former category.

The official trailer shows you all you need to know about the film, maybe a tad too much.

Although there is a sci-fi element to the film (involving the harvesting of human clones for organ donation) it is kept firmly in the background to the central theme of the evolving relationships between the three central characters at three stages of their lives.

Having watched the dvd, I'm now after the blu-ray version as the film is simply visually stunning.

Anyone else seen the film?

It was a book long before it was a film, by one of my favourite authors, Kazuo Ishiguro, who specialises in stories of memory and time and people operating at a tangent to the rest.
I found the book disturbing enough, guess I'll get round to the film sometime.

I was chatting to my manager at work yesterday about the film and she saw it at the cinema and also used the term 'disturbing' in connection with this project. Possibly liking the book will make you ultra-critical of the film as seldom do films match their print source. But given that I picked up the dvd from Sainsburys for just £3, then for that money I would definately recommend a purchase. :)
