I am very sad to announce that the fantastic Folk singer/Hobo/Story Teller Utah Phillips has passed away last saturday.
He's been one of the most inspiring voices for me in the last 10 years. Although I only had one record to listen to over and over again : THE PAST DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE which was compiled with added music by Ani Difranco in order to reach a younger audience.
Well, as he said "No matter how New Age you get, Old Age' s gonna kick your back". That's finally what happened.
I'll just leave you with two other quotes that i think very funny and true:
"I learnt in Korea that I would never again, in my life, abdicate to somebody else my right, and my ability, to decide who the enemy is." (ANARCHY)
"If I cannot dictate the conditions of my labour, I will hence forth cease to work.
I learnt when I was young that the only true life I had was the life of my brain.
But if it's true, what sense does it make to hand that brain to somebody for eight hours a day, for their particular use,on the presumption that at the end of the day they will give it back on a non mutilated condition?" (BUM ON THE ROD)
Also, if you want to know more about the man, the obituary that was written is very touching and well written:

Rest In Peace.
