Synedoche, New York.

Post by blue »

Anyone else seen Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut? I caught it on Film4 very late the other night, thought I'd give it a go because I think Kaufman is a genius writer and a wonderfully compassionate spirit - he's so brilliant at depicting the real human frailties of his characters in a way that makes you want to put your arms around them. I'm so glad I watched this film, I knew in the first couple of minutes I was going to love it. ^

I won't go into a big spiel about it now in case no-one else has seen it, but it's well worth a watch.

How do you pronounce 'synecdoche'? I've always wanted to know. :I

One of the running jokes in the film is the lead character Caden reading the local paper, which is called the Schenectadian. So I guess it's pronounced Schenectady. :D

Phillip Seymour Hoffman is brilliant in the lead role, god I love that guy. ^
