The Innocence Mission

Post by RobB »

I've been playing the album 'Sun On The Square' by The Innocence Mission quite a lot recently, and if I close my eyes then I really can hear Stina's voice here. Both Karen Peres and Stina sound uncannily alike at times and both artists emerged at roughly the same time in the late 1980's,albeit thousands of miles apart.

This is the track 'Light Of Winter' which is a really beautiful song.

I must dive deeper in their albums, each one I heard is great!

I purchased Glow (an early album) many many years ago and I wasn't keen. Then I found 'sun on the square' in a charity shop and I absolutely love it. I've since bought its follow up,' See You Tomorrow' (the follow up to 'sun on the square',and their most recent album) and I like that a lot too,its quite similar although I don't think the songs are quite as strong. In time, I intend to work backwards, buying up their albums, although I think I'll be preferring their later albums as opposed to their earlier ones.

Here's 'On Your side' from the album,'See You Tomorrow'.
