Question: Was this movie banned in this countries or something?

Either way, getting the DVD can perhaps be a bit hard when you live in Asia?

I think it was sent, slightly edited of course, on tv once. I viewed the beginning, and I didn't like it that much.

I just find it wannabe-shocking.

i've seen the short uncensored version. But before it was to be released to its own public, it had to be censored, and there was a big hoo-la from the director about it.

i found all the local dialect very endearing. but the subject-matter was cliched. the production was colourful, but the plot and script lacked that extra something. it was just celebrating the right to film something that most people don't talk about in the country.

i think the beginning of some movie's slow. i don't like Dogville either, and i barely could make it past VCD side 2...

Dogville and Dancer in the Dark are two of my most favourite movies ever!!!

But the kind of movies thay are you don't exactly want to see them all the time ... too many dark feelings. Lars vont Trier really knows how to hit your spots, he's scary that man, I think he finds pleasure in making movies that torture people ... I guess the sight of Bj?rk dying is too traumatic for me hahahahahaha....

Well, i am surprised not to see Alex coming in here to praise LVT!
I have already said a lot about him on the other board, I think he is a very talented director but i just hate the way he manipulates us and his sadistic pleasure in mistreating women...
Idiots was indeed a very interesting movie, raising issues that are never talked about otherwise. But Coral, this is not at all porn! :O

In fact I wasn't inspired to argue my point of view about this movie.
I like it and I really think this movie is really misundestood because people just talk about the porn scene and never about the pain of a mother.

But I guess it requires a lot of effort to see beauty of the inside when we only notice the ugliness of the outside

I?ve seen Idioterne almost a year ago? and I still don?t know what to think of it. Honestly, I can?t really understand the aim of this movie.

I somehow feel it?s a bit profane. It makes an spectacle out of people who pretend to be idiots but aren?t really mentally handicapped, which I find slightly repulsive.

Maybe LVT was just trying to react against intellectualism?

Analissa, the movie is thesecond of the "golden heart" trilogy.
So the main aim is so related to this trilogy : the sacrifice of a woman to her beloved person (her husband or her son).

And a good question to ask is why do they act as if they are idiots and not to judge them at first.

Trilogy?

Post by Elforel »

Well, I actually think Idiots was not a bad movie, and as you notice i don't even REMEMBER a porn scene. [b)]
But I am confused about the Golden heart [:xx] Trilogy, I thought it was composed of Breaking the Waves (destroying Emily Watson), Dancer in the Dark (destroying Bjork) and Dogville (humiliating Nicole Kidman).
So I was wrong it seems...
Oh, wait, wasn't Dogville the start of another cycle? Can you enlighten me on this Alex (or anyone)?
