I love it, it has a much more 'country' feel (in a good way) than the version that made it onto the album, though I love that too. I remember posting it for Angie and Paul on the old board.

Wonder what they're making of the ADP promotion.

I would imagine so, Rob - Tori tends to keep the same little group of people around her, and she likes his work. He did the remastering for the entire 'A Piano' project. And a wonderful job he did on that too, it sounds fabulous for the most part.

I'm feeling more hopeful having listened to these, I think this'll be an OK album. Definitely better than TBK as everyone who's heard it has said, and at least there's a bit of diversity in the sound this time.

From those 30 second clips I would say that 'Girl Disappearing','Devils & Gods' and 'Smokey Joe' all stood out from the pack with 'Yo George', Mr.Bad Man', 'Velvet Revolution' and 'Dragon' worthy of further investigation.

But judging by all the other tracks then I think once again the new album needs serious pruning. Knock the 23 tracks down to 10 and there might well be a tight,consistantly entertaining album there.

As it stands though I think Tori is going to sound tiresome to all but the most obsessed Tori fans.

Yep, way too many tracks - there's going to be a fair percentage of filler there, which does no-one any favours, least of all Tori. If she wants to write novels, she should write novels.

You've picked out the ones I think I'm going to like, Rob - Girl Disappearing (such a Beatley feel to it, reminds me of 'She's Leaving Home'), Father's Son which again has a curiously sixties feel to it, Smokey Joe and Dragon - two of the best of the lot, and she's only put them on as 'bonus tracks'!

I'm really not liking the heavy rock type ones at all - Teenage Hustling, Body and Soul etc. She just can't pull that stuff off, IMHO. She sounds like someone trying way too hard.

Beauty of Speed reminds me a lot of Carbon, one of my favourite tracks from Scarlet's Walk, so I suspect I'll like that. Mr. Bad Man is kind of hilarious, like something from the 50s.

Other than those, oh and Bouncing Off Clouds which I've really grown to like since having the full track in good quality, I don't think there's much else on there to interest me.

I just pray this album gives her the big hit she's after so she can get that out of her system and return some day to what she does best. I find it incredibly ironic and sad that someone so unique is trying to sound like so many mainstream rock artists from different decades .... all her real fans want is for her to sound like Tori Amos again.

yeah i hate it when you say you just want tori to be herself again and then people get defensive because they think you want her to be angry again. it's just not the case. her next album could be the most ecstatic and happy music ever and i would be happy if it was the real her again

Oh god, tell me about it. I get so sick of that response - 'you want her to be miserable again! You want her to be unhappy! You want her to suffer!'. Um, no - I want her to be herself, MUSICALLY. I want her to stop aping the styles of other, mainstream, rock artists and stop acting as if she's embarrassed by her best work, by the qualities that drew so many devoted fans to her in the first place. I want her music to be interesting and vivid and moving again. I want her to get the hell over this mania to be a big mainstream rock star. I want her to stop putting her 'place in rock history' at the top of her list of priorities, or at least to recognise that the way to achieve it is to be her own unique self, that all she's achieving with these mediocre efforts is the destruction of any reputation she'd gained with her first seven albums. I pray she realises this at some point because she is slowly but surely pissing away any kudos she had and becoming a laughing stock.

I think the only thing that might save her now is if she doesn't sign with another big record company after this album. She owed Epic three apparently so with this one she's free. Please Tori, don't go the major route again. Go independent. You've got plenty of money now, so many Jimmy Choos they need their own room. You've got your beach house in Florida and your studio in Cornwall, you've got your chef and your Saab and your Viktor and Rolf clothes, your fine wines. Now how about paying some real attention to your art?
