I actually took a great interest in the whole Britpop scene, I think there's been a tendency in recent years to denigrate it but there was a lot of really good music around, and a certain vibrancy that was interesting and amusing to observe. I had an encyclopaedic knowledge of band personnel.
I lost track of Echobelly after the second album, mind.

Whilst doing a bit of 'googling' on Echobelly i've come across a piece of trivia that links me to Debbie.
Its seems Debbie (and I'm sure you'll correct me if i'm wrong here) use to be a neighbour to cellist Audrey Riley,who use to be in Virginia Astley's backing band and of course,I co-manage Virginia's official website.
Hows that for coincidence.....erm fate?

Yes, it's all true!
Audrey actually did some very lovely string arrangements for the 3rd Echobelly album. She's really nice - but haven't seen her for years now. If you're in contact with her, Rob, say hello from me.

Unfortunately I havn't seen Audrey since she did a gig at the Warehouse in London back in October 2002.
Incidentally,in case you were the teeny weeny bit curious as to how I knew that you were neighbours,its because a guy called Deke Rivers (a self proclaimed greatest Virginia Astley fan in the whole wide world) put a message up on a music forum stating that he'd met you about 6 years ago when you were working in a Notting Hill record shop and got the info from you then!!
I would think it would have been quite an unforgetable experience as we've heard so much about the exploits of Mr.Rivers over the years, as he (to put it kindly) dresses like a tramp and covers himself with homemade VA badges and wears a VA cap.
He certainly worried Virginia who took flight,leaving London for the west country.

: heard 'Alone at Night' in c.1992,taped a few things between then and late 2002,when I finally bought a CD (all of them!).
And I'd be surprised if anyone beat my "record". Heard MOAC when it came out in a record shop in Lund (Sweden). Really liked what I heard, asked who that was and bought the CD. I should be rewarded! [bday]
