Thanks hon, I should be getting my new monitor in a week's time so I'll be back positing properly again then.

It must be very difficult for someone like Stina to even contemplate being involved in the music business ... she seems to have such a great need to live life in a way that seems truthful to her, and people like that always have a tough time dealing with the vagaries of the world. Maybe there's a degree of subconscious self-sabotage going on, but you have to think she cares enough about her music to get it out there somehow.

Re: the Co-Operative label.....it does appear to be a subsidiary collective label backed by V2 music as you say Dave and it has been running for three years.
Also,Sweden's V2 music website is still up and still lists Stina as being one of their (distributed?) artists although worryingly their News page hasn't been updated since last December.

Strangely, I am not thinking she'll just disapear.
I'm pretty sure she's working somewhere, maybe not on an album, maybe on an installation or a film?
I really believe she'll come back.

But I wouldn't be surprised if we got news from her coming from some random music magazine rather than on the board.

Let's see...Let's hope.

In my defence, I can barely see what I'm typing! But I think a spot of positing may not go amiss round these parts, as you say. Maybe I'll make a thread for it.

The fact that the V2 news is stuck on December doesn#t seem too promising at all. You'd think a record company could find something to write about in six months.

I think most record companies with a long term view,after the tendency of the last few years, will be writing 'Help!!!' Serves 'em right in many instances.

Hmm, I suspect most readers of this board have had more than enough of my Blitz spirit!

Has anyone tried contacting someone else at V2 to ask what's going on? Couldn't hurt.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V2_Records) V2 has been sold to Universal Records. That might be an explanation for the lack of news from Helen / Stina. Universal is cleaning up her massive artist roster. Siobhan Donaghy has been dropped by them, Lilly Allen's new album has been pushed back to spring 2009 (without her approval and while her debutalbum has sold almost a million copies). Perhaps Stina has been dropped or Universal are not interested in distributing music from which the rights are owned by the artist herself.

Although the website of co-operative music seems to be hopeful about the direction of the new V2:
Cooperative Music is a collective of independent record labels, backed by V2 Music, formed in 2005, to release their music and develop their artists around Europe. The labels who currently form Cooperative Music are Arts & Crafts, Bella Union, City Slang, Luaka Bop, Memphis Industries, Moshi Moshi Records, Rabid Records and Wichita Recordings. Cooperative Music currently has offices in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Benelux and Scandinavia and releases music from all of these labels in other territories through various licensees.

Hopefully Stina will get herself distributed by V2 again. Her last album has been distributed almost everywhere, which was a better than the previous albums.

What with this ongoing Universal/V2 upheaval, I guess it is quite reasonable of Stina to hold back a completed album and just sit tight until the dust settles.

A little post here from Stina explaining matters would also be quite reasonable.

at least if we're pretty sure Coming Soon's just being held back until the record companies are sorted out, maybe she's got time to work on a new record!
