Emiliana Torrini - Me and Armini

I'm going to see Emiliana Torrini live next month in Paradiso in Amsterdam with my boyfriend. I'm really looking forward to that.

I'm embarrassed to say that I still havn't got around to buying the last album yet. I seem to be so focused on buying films/dvds these days that albums/cds tend to get overlooked.

Yesterday I went to see Emiliana in Paradiso in Amsterdam. The concert was brilliant. She sang the songs better than I heard her perform on the album. It was the last performance in this tour that probably was a part of that, because the band really played well together. The songs were a lot heavier than on the album. But when she played the songs from Fisherman's woman the music was really on the background with Emiliana's voice really upfront.

She played all the tracks from Me and Armini except for Dead Duck. From Fisherman's Woman she played Nothing Brings Me Down, Sunnyroad, Lifesaver, Today has been OK, Fisherman's Woman and Heartstopper. From the first album she played Easy and Unemployed in the Summertime as an encore.

Anyway Rob, buy the last album, it's really good. For the rest of you: if you have a chance to see Emiliana perform, you should really go. You won't be disappointed.

I think I would have been slightly disappointed not to have heard 'Honeymoon Child' & 'To Be Free' but I guess she couldn't play everything?

I will definately get her latest album....preferably before the next one comes out.

If you would have known the last album a bit better I guess you wouldn't have missed those songs. She did two encores so she played long (she played for an hour and a half).

I saw her live in Adelaide back in 2006 and she was fantastic. The high point being her fabulous rendition of If You Go Away (probably one of my favourite recordings by Emiliana, the b-side to To Be Free, and one of my favourite songs of all time despite how many times it's been covered!!!!!).

I really hope that she comes back to polay in Adelaide again as she is such a great performer.
