Not that I do not trust you, but could you cite your source? If anything I am a buddhist, not a christian. It just seems so gross for a pope to say such things I can't really believe it.

Just google- ratzinger anti buddhism - and you'll get a long list of sites reporting what I've stated and more .He's said all this in interviews with the media.

I've heard -- although not from a realiable source -- that he's instructed officials who happen to be Catholics to refuse to process gay marriages. If true, that's a worrying attack on secularism. After all, it's not like the church itself has to recognize the marriages.

Also, surveys are showing Spain is nowhere near as staunchly Catholic as it used to be.
