I guess that's one of the main problems, that the old core members of CQD more or less expected a place that continued the way they were used too. But people like me (there is some right?) are just glad to be on this forum and share a common interest, namely Stina's music. I for myself can't really understand the seemingly growing disinterest with Stina's music mainly fueled by lack of publicity and news about her. I can enjoy forever the music she's created and enjoy it every day and think it gives me enough inspiration to discuss a wide range of topics here that come from a shared interest

Just now i realized that i won't be depressed by the fact that some people don't want to come to the forum anymore, but what if some of the creators of it do? I got a real chill when i thought about the possibility that someone might give up on this forum and delete it? I cannot bear the thought of this as it would make me lose my home on the internet and make me feel deprived, losing one of the places i go to everyday. So I hope that people keep in mind that this place DOES mean a lot to members like me here...

Well, I can explain why I'm signing off.

The main reason for me (can't talk for Alex or Kuhn) to host the board was because I wanted to keep the CQD Community together. And to provide a board for Stina Nordenstam messages.

As you can read in Elizabeth's post these two can't be combined anymore since some members of the group have become totally fed up with the way Ms. Nordenstam treats her fanbase.

There has been a discussion about what a new messageboard should be centered around. Some said it needed to be a board on which the old members could chat on about all the things they've been discussing before (including private lives in the old days).

I thought it would be wise to center it around Stina in the first place because that's the thing that brought this old group together. Besides.... it would attract new members since Stina would continue to release new music to be discussed.

I guess a board mainly based on a group of people will not gain many new members. It'll be a 'clique', to throw in a word that has been used before.

It was clearly my mistake to think I would be able (together with Alex and Kuhn) to create a stable messageboard for this group. That we could go on with our discussion is the same atmosphere we had over at SeekYouDanger. This board is stable. But it's the group that no longer excists.

This also makes clear that I myself cared more about holding this group together than to create a board mainly about Stina, as I think of it. New insights for me. Sadly it never worked out the way I hoped it would.

i do small things like post a secret, any secret...but nobody did, except Alex..yes, RobB was the one who held things together. he also failed to tell us what happened with the CQD board. if he didn't know he could have said so.

nothing is happening in my life. i work my ass off (not 9-5 either).
i promise to come by during my night shifts. is that okay? maybe 2-4am in the morning here will be exciting time over at your place.

I met some fascinating people because of the old boards, had many laughs, learned a few lessons about myself and others, good and bad. Now THAT is worth coming online for.

And that's what I had in mind while creating this new messageboard.

Absolutely, yes, but some of us didn't see that as a bad thing. We already constituted a 'clique' at CQD, albeit a rather nice one that positively tried to entice some of the hundreds of registered members to post. But it always came down to our little group of chatters, didn't it? And it's the same on most forums, even massive ones I've belonged to like atease (the main Radiohead fan board) - over 10,000 registered members, but a very small core group regularly posting, and that mainly to chat to each other about anything and everything except Radiohead! This is what community is made of I think, that personal contact and the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that can result if you get a particularly simpatico group of people together. It's a different and separate thing from a group of individuals visiting a fan board to talk about the artist, although it grows out of that, obviously. At CQD, I think you had two distinct groups for whom these differing experiences were valuable in their own ways, but the main core group tended to fall largely into the 'community' idea, which is why I felt that a new board centred around 'the community', rather than 'the artist', would likely last much longer. I remember for quite a while before CQD actually ended, Duncan and I were talking about this and we both agreed that the ideal thing would be a kind of 'cafe in cyberspace' for our core group, a place that was about us and our wide interests, where members could drop in daily just to hang with each other for a while. I think it could have worked. Stina would have had her own thread if people wanted to keep talking about her, but there would have been a pretty wide musical/artistic focus as well.

This also makes clear that I myself cared more about holding this group together than to create a board mainly about Stina, as I think of it. New insights for me. Sadly it never worked out the way I hoped it would.

Oh sweetheart. [b)] We live and learn. You DID create something here - look at Wirbel's post above - this board is important to a new group of people who want to talk about Stina. You've given them a place to do that, so don't feel too badly.

As for our little group, I guess we just have to accept that our moment has passed, life has moved on, and we just keep in touch privately, those of us who are still talking to each other. Who knows, maybe that 'gathering' will happen one day.

Well, that's me - I'm getting wed in three days time, have to focus on that and whatever adventures await me in the future. Good luck to all, enjoy the board in your own way, and here's hoping Stina rewards your loyalty with more music eventually!

I think Elizabeth has just put it down as it is really. I don't think arguing about what the new board was/could have been centered around will change anything. I, personally, did not think about what kind of a board this new one is, "Stina" fanclub or more of a place for people from CQD. I will "contribute" if I feel I have something to say, else I will be quiet.
Why Rob, Spook, and others do not participate much at all here, I do not know, but it is nothing to get worked out for. That is that!
