Meanwhile my partner DOES sit on a lot of interviewing panels and reads lots of CVs and applications,and I get the lowdown from her.
It seems that the main thing is to show how suitable you are for the job in hand,based not just on your experience (as shown in all the 'boxes' you fill in- job history,education etc etc) but in the 'free' section at the end where you can write what you like about yourself,because it's where your uniqueness can come out.
A lot of employers skip through the 'box' bits and read the 'free' section first,apparently; they assume that applicants have the basic qualifications and experience required so they're looking for something a bit special.

the trick to type accents is working on every windows system..
you have to keep ALT pressed while typing 0232 and when the ALT key is released the accent character appears.

I'd try pressing some of those other mystery keys (command/shift/control) + e (twice) or Alex's number code and see what happens

I'm amazed that you have to type all those numbers on a PC to get accents.Surely for a French person that's terrible! There must be a quicker way.
on our french keyboard, we already have accent keys. but not characters like ò, ð, ... so my magic code alt+4 numbers is very useful to do that.

Dave, I only have to look at computers the wrong way and they go crazy. Hitting untried buttons, especially in scary combinations, is positively inviting catastrophe.

See, this is what I don't get. We live in a multi-lingual, global village culture. Vast amounts of communication via computers is taking place every second of the day between users all over the world. So wouldn't it just be simpler to put the French and Scandinavian/German accents on the damn keyboard in plain sight, eh, eh?

wireless means without wire so a wireless keyboard has no wire directly connected to the computer. Look around your keyboard then you'll know.
