Well Murray is only 22, so this could become an annual event for the next eight years or so.

I love McEnroe. He's mellowed into a really cool guy. I loved him when he was young and surly too, though. I started to get into tennis at the same time he came up ('79/'80). I was kind of torn between worshipping him and Borg. The year they played the final with that horrendously long tie-break I practically chewed all my fingers off.

I can't believe he actually won it. I felt sure he was on the way out.

I think the decision to install the roof has been vindicated by the match this evening. Much better to let the late matches play out rather than interrupt them till next day, and the atmosphere was fantastic in there. The roof itself is a thing of beauty at night, with the lights on - stunning bit of kit.

Sweet Lord, I beseech you, make the heat go away.

I'm feeling so ill from it now, it was almost 90F in the shop today. We have one crappy air con vent in the middle of the roof that does absolutely nothing unless you stand directly under it ... I'm going to lie down now and visualise snow. Lots of it.

Still, at least Murray is through to the semis. Good on yer, that man.

I've spent most of this week so far indoors because of the heat.Plus i tend to burn very easy which is another reason to keep out of the sun.
So i've had a few short bursts outside cutting the hedge,otherwise i've been indoors relaxing,mainly watching my dvds.

It's be a rather chilly 13 degrees here, about as cold as it gets here in winter. I'm relaxing for the first time in about 6 days. The sparkling shiraz is open and I'm blasting my beloved Jarvis to the point of upsetting the dog. My partner has informed me of the UK heatwave. Sounds like a mild spring day to me hahahaha.

As I type the dog is looking up at me, pleadingly, to turn that f**king music down!!

Yeah, I guess it's nothing to compare with a hot Australian day, but good lord, it gets me down. It's not so much that it's hot, it's the kind of heat we get here in the south of England - it just sits right on top of you and is so humid. Where I come from on the west coast of Scotland it can actually get boiling hot in the summer, but it's a different kind of heat, dry and always with a breeze off the water. I've lived in England now for 30 years and have never gotten used to this humidity.

Mind you, I felt kind of sorry for both Murray and Roddick today - basically they were fighting for the chance to be thrashed in straight sets by Federer on Sunday.

Next year... Except Nadal will be back.

Agree about the weather.I remember being really surprised,when I worked in Gran Canaria,that you could have very hot weather that was really quite pleasant and not at all sticky.

However,I have found paradise,and it's called a wood.On a hot day,there's nothing better-cool and fresh,plus it has birds singing,space for reflection,and just the wonderful wisdom and ambience of old trees.I'm lucky enough to live more or less in the middle of one,and owning a dog ensures that I spend plenty of time wandering around in it.

Today it started raining after being around 29 degrees here for three days. I was so happy with the airconditioning at my office. But the rain has cooled things down a bit. Not enough though, the frontdoor and backdoor are open right now, blowing a lovely breeze through the house. But still the temperature is 25,5 degrees in the house. Another night of no sleep I guess. Miserable, innit. I'm exceedingly cranky from lack of sleep right now. Well, more so than usual.

Ugh, I just heard a commotion by my chair and my youngest cat had brought a fully-grown starling in. [b)]

Luckily she hadn't sunk her teeth into it at all - I think I've now solved the mystery of which one of my cats brings in birds completely unharmed - so I managed to get the poor little bugger off her and take it back outside. It flew away with no problems. God speed little bird.

Awe, poor little starling! Glad it was rescued, even if they are one of the more annoying birds of this planet. Though not as bad as wild parrots. I hate them, sitting in the trees outside my house screaming like mad hags at each other at 5am!!!!
