I would think it would have been quite an unforgetable experience as we've heard so much about the exploits of Mr.Rivers over the years, as he (to put it kindly) dresses like a tramp and covers himself with homemade VA badges and wears a VA cap.
He certainly worried Virginia who took flight,leaving London for the west country.

You think thats bad? He also went on the London Underground and audio taped the sound of the trains becasue VA use to ride on them !!

After that,its a bit of an anti-climax to reveal that he also use to collect leaves from trees in the road where she use to live.
I wonder if Stina has any crackpots she has to avoid?
And before Mr.Dave gets in with his well worn joke,I am excluded from that category.

I used to know a guy who would fly to NYC specifically to go through Bob Dylan's dustbins.

....and depending on what he found he could have made a profit on the trip as well.
Thinking about it,if Bob Dylan started to write down a lyric,got stuck half way and screwed up the paper and threw it in the bin,just how much money is he throwing away?
First draft Beatles lyrics are now selling for tens of thousands and pounds.

Yeah,but what got me was that it never occurred to him that he could just as well knock on Bob's door and MEET the man,having flown all that way.
Somehow the fantasy and the reality become two separate things....
You must have seen that Beatles clip,RobB,where a poor obsessed nutcase appears in Lennon's garden (this is c.1970-1) and John is trying to explain to him that his perspective has got out.Terribly ironic in the light of what happened in 1980.

Yeah,I know the clip you mean.It was in late Spring of 1971 when he was recording his 'Imagine' album.In many ways it showed Lennon to be almost human.
