I never know what to play people for first listens of any artists.
It's always particularly hard to choose something to listen to when i'm at the bowling alley or in control of the stereo in a carful of people, you can only listen to Workin For The Man by PJ Harvey so many times... Siobhan Donaghy is a pretty well recieved artist most of the time and i can sometimes get away with The Fiery Furnaces or Tori.

I have decided to have a "Album Close-Up" section on my show. This is where I will play 3 tracks from an album every week- an album that is unique, different and is significant to Scandinavian music in some way. And Stina umm.. kind of fits that description dosen't she?
In about 4 weeks time, (when the adverts are up and the website's functioning and I have established listeners) the featured album will be one of Stinas. But which particular album deserves to be labelled "Significant" on my show or which would sum up her music. Remember it also kinda acts like an introduction to her.
My intial thought was "Dynamite".

I suppose it could be argued that an album 'significant to Scandanavian music' at the very least shouldn't be an album sung in English.
And that certainly doesn't apply to Stina.
But if Stina's albums can be included then I'd probably go for 'And She Closed Her Eyes'.....its her best known work and probably her most commercially successful album.
How did your first show go,Matt?
Did you receive much in the way of feedback?
Unfortuantely I had to miss it as Wednesdays I'm normally out until late evening.

Very hard to find an album that 'sums up' Stina,since the first five albums are each pretty different from the others.So maybe TWIS fills that role?
At any event I wouldn't play either MOAC or This Is as being representative,since they are both similar to other music by other people.
I would have thought that the average listener isn't going to be taking notes on which is the significant Stina album anyway-more likely to think 'wow,that's a great song' and go from there.
