Totally agree. But in my humble opinion she's gone too far from the world of popmusic. The songs seem to get lost in the experiment on her last two releases.

I guess her record company will try to change this experimental mood in the future as it doesn't bring enough $$$

Medulla is too weird for us humans, so maybe she should wait one more century to release something like this again

I love Med?lla ... so there. I think that many of the songs are proper pop songs ... Like Who Is It, Pleasure Is All Mine, Mouth's Cradle, The Triumph of a Heart, Oceania ... The three tracks that are "weirder" are just there to show from which direction the pop songs came... like interludes almost ...

I think that a lot of people are regarding Drawing Restraint 9 as a proper Bj?rk album ... it's not. Although the record company is marketing it that way. It's a soundtrack ... interesting but the songs are not meant to be "pop songs" they are backgrounds and backdrops to images...

Oh and she has pretty much carte blanche on her record company so I doubt they'll be forcing her to do anything. Med?lla is her highest charting album in the uS ...

Well I'm glad somebody else likes Medulla as well as me.
And I'm pretty surprised by how conservative people are in their listening habits.I thought rock/pop fans (I'm more of a jazz/classic/ethnic fan myself) would welcome experimentation and daring and the challenging of the everyday.Oh well...

What have record sales got to do with anything,after all? It's far more important for an artist to be him/herself.

*Drawing restraint 9 * had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival yesterday.
Apparently Bjork and Barney cut off their limbs and turn into whales .....sounds interesting [crazy]

Actually the world premiere was in Japan last month. At the museum that comissioned the film. But the public wasn't invited so maybe this qualifies as the proper one.

I've read the synopsis (If you could call it that) ... and It seems to be a pretty movie to look at.

Bj?rk's own company owns all the rights of her albums. She has only got a distributiondeal. So I guess that One Little Indian doesn't have much to say at all.

Besides that: remember that Medulla has sold over a million copies worldwide. That's a salesfigure that any recordcompany would be more than happy with. Especially when you keep in mind that the music is not exactly radiofriendly.

anyone have any idea on where to get the stats on all her albums, how many were sold and stuff? That's be interesting to check out.

I wonder if so many people bought the cd because it was Bjork (as i would've) and not because they knew they liked it, or if they were prepared for it. I think that's how it is with bjork fans, once you're one, you buy whatever she puts out. generally.

I think she's trying to start a cult, and the seemingly "experimental" sound actually contains subliminal messages, so all you that listen to it over and over are going to find yourselves boarding a spaceship one day. And then the rest of us will laugh and say, "ha ha." But we still love y'all.

Did anyone like it? Dave, did you follow on that too?
I just got the Medulla Dvd and that was quite interesting to see the documentaries about the making of the album and the making of the video for Triumph of the heart...
I was very pleased to hear Bjork say that she was not completely pleased with the final Medulla because it lacked something for the lower part of the body. I totally agree.
Oh, and you gotta hear that beast on 5.1 with a home theater... A grrrrreat experience!!!

No Elfy I haven't heard it yet-it's high on my wishlist but then Bjork is easy to come by compared to most of the music I look for.
I'm sure to be one of the few people who like it! Know what you mean about Medulla,but then music isn't obliged to fulfil any particular function except an aural one,eh what
