I went to the 9/10 show at Irving Plaza!!!
All those blah reveiws and blah TV preformances really had my expectations not too high, but I'm glad...because I was
completely blown away.
She came out smoking a cigarrette and sang The Greatest with the Memphis Rhythm Band playing. She was so animated. She danced everywhere and interacted with the audience more than I ever imagined her possible, like she was a pro. She actually played longer than she should have and the staff complained about it afterwards.
A few personal highlights of the night.
I rudely, but sucesssfully got me and my friend Link to the front of the stage from the back. Hooray!
After singing a few songs with the band, she sat alone with the piano and played "I Do Believe" and "Where is my love?" The crowd was totally silent, soaking in every word.
She was dancing around and gave her ass to Link and I to slap. Link got it, I missed out.
I gave her my leopardprint/black courdoroy jacket that I had designed and sewn together (the leopardprint onto carefully chosen parts of the black). She bent down and hugged me and we said a few words. Then later she moved the mike right in front of us.
Link stole the setlist from the stage. He gave it to me
I danced to every song possible. It was the best night ever!!
I'll post the setlist (the one that Link stole) later, but she also playerd "Satisfaction" not the one on the covers record, a more upbeat version. At the end of everything she sang that song "Crazy" that's all over the radio..I know some black guy sings it. "I remember when I remember I remember when I lost my mind..." You know... Then the loudspeakers started playing the song, drowning her out and she just dances with some of the band.
Wow. I can't believe how great it was. Anyone else make it?
