Gosh, I'm so tired this morning, I can't stop yawning. Been working every day this week and have two more days to go, then blissful three days off.
The weather's turned really beautiful here the past couple of days, proper summer. Nice for walking to and from work, if a bit sticky. I saw a Kestrel on the way home the other day, first one I've seen in real life. Lovely thing.

Ooh I like that! Sounds kind of Italian, which would be appropriate given the little one's Italian blood.

I've just spent a night camping in West Wales, got lucky with weather (xcept I'm burnt now), pottering about by the sea. Lovely.
Just enough to refuel before Term 6, which is always pretty full on for me. One of my singing groups has a gig in the Bath Fringe tomorrow, then I'm working in several Special Schools next week (towards the annual Festival in July) as well as teaching my 25 piano pupils, some of whom have exams looming.

I've just been officially diagnosed with tinnitus in my right ear.
Sounds like I have high pitched static in my head. At least it comes and goes I suppose.
Too much music, too many concerts. Crap.

Sorry to hear that, Daniel, that's awful. The guitarist in my band has tinnitus after doing one too many loud rock gigs back in the day, and his life is pretty hellish because of it, I have to say.
For all the visceral thrill of listening to music loud at gigs or onstage, I'd say to anyone out there that it is simply not worth it if you lose your hearing because it ain't coming back.
If you're standing within 15 feet of a drummer using sticks, wear earplugs, is my rule. If the band you're listening to is louder than a police siren/125 train going by,ditto.

Very sorry to read that Daniel. No consolation i know but there are quite a few famous sufferers with the same ailment.

My dad suffers from tinnitus as well. He says it sounds like a field full of grasshoppers chirping away.

Oh Dan, as if you don't have enough to cope with already. [b)]
I'm so sorry mate, wish there was something else I could say.

So I went to see my daughter yesterday, and informed her that my grandson can call me Boo. Fortunately she's used to her mother being generally weird, so she's accepted it without a qualm.
She's suddenly gone into that 'blooming' stage of pregnancy, after a rough five months. She's a beautiful girl anyway but she looked stunning yesterday.

She was in hysterics telling me about her partner's efforts to disguise his disappointment at not getting the daughter he was hoping for, she thinks its hilarious. I had a little chat with him out in the garden and it was really highly amusing watching him trying to resign himself to having a boy.

Ah well, I'm sure once the little lad is here he'll be over the moon, and looking forward to playing football with him in a few years.
My daughter has already bought the baby TWO pairs of trainers (Nike and Adidas) and his first tracksuit.

Are you sure you want him to shout 'Boo! Boo!' when he sees you coming?
Trainers and tracksuits? blimey. Babies need soft natural materials.
I've never found anything remotely likeable in trainers, tracksuits and any of that sports-clothes-as-everyday-wear trend, including American baseball caps, but then I'm an old-fashioned Anglo. Having said that, just today I have to go and buy a pair of trainers, yes, probably Nike or their ilk, because I've had a mystery foot ailment for a while which turns out to be something to do with the tendons. And my Doc recommended that I get some sports trainers, because they give your feet proper support.
Last night I went to see NoFitState Circus performing their show 'Tabu'. Great stuff, in your face, high energy punkish delivery but also moments of impassioned poetry such as you wouldn't expect from what is essentially a bunch of trapeze artists. And all driven along by a great four-piece band. Highly recommended if it comes near you.

I can't wait to hear about junior saying to his granny for the first time, 'Boo who?'

Well I was thinking he could just call me Blue as I'm so used to that here, but it would probably come out as 'Boo' so that might be easier for him.
Very odd thing happened to me today. I had an appointment to see my GP this morning at 9am, so I got up early and as I was just going about running a bath and so on, the thought popped into my head that the doctor would be off sick, and the receptionist was trying to ring me but for some reason couldn't get through. The thought popped back out again just as quickly and I thought no more about it.
Until I went to my appointment and was told my GP was off sick, and the receptionist had been trying to ring me to let me know - on my old, no longer working number!

I'm really sorry to hear that Daniƫl. You're probably one of the most devoted to music members on this board.
So do you have to stop going to concerts to make things better? Or isn't giving your ears some rest (silence) a cure?
