Interestingly, on the world-wide chart last week, ADP was at no.6 - it must have gone top ten in quite a few countries to achieve that position. I wonder if that's a result of her visiting countries on the last tour that she doesn't normally go to? I see from the European dates this year she's doing the same thing, going to places like Romania and Turkey as well as the usual ports of call. If this trend continues, those poor Tori fans in South America who've been complaining for a long time now might get their wish.

They should do an online petition, like the Australian fans did around the time of TBK. Worked for them.

She was fabulous on Letterman doing Big Wheel, I love the sound of it live with the heavier guitars.

First night of the ADP tour has just gotten underway in Rome, and you'll be happy to know Daniel that she's played YCBYD! Also my favourite, 'Dragon', which I cannot wait to hear. Hopefully the mp3s will be up quite soon after the show finishes.

Some sites are reporting that she DOES have a guitarist on stage with her - not Jon, not Mark (who plays guitar on the record under his pseudonym Mac Alladin). I'm so curious to know definitely if this is true, and who the hell it is. Maybe Robbie McIntosh, who played on some of the Scarlet tracks?

aren't Mac Aladdin and Robbie McIntosh pseudonyms for Tori's computer? i'm almost sure they are.

Robbie McIntosh is a well known guitarist who use to be in the Pretenders and Paul McCartney's band......amongst many others.
I'd recognise him if I saw a pic of him on stage with Tori.

Robbie McIntosh is a real guitarist, as Rob says. He played on some of the Scarlet tracks, as far as I recall.

Turns out the guitarist on stage with Tori last night is one Dan Phelps, a very respected young blues guitarist from Seattle, who's worked with Matty on his solo projects.

The Mac Alladin controversy has been raging for a while now in Toridom, fuelled by T's enigmatic comments about 'him'. Various theories have been thrown around - it's a programme, hence the 'Mac', it's a very well-known guitarist playing under a pseudonym for legal reasons, or it's Mark. I've always tended to believe it was Mark, purely because it's the simplest explanation, and this was confirmed by Matty in an off-the-cuff conversation with Molly Knight a couple of months ago. He was under the impression that most of the fanbase knew it was Mark anyway. (Husband, it transpires, used to be guitarist in a punk band in the 80s.)

Husband has been on stage with wifey the past couple of nights of the tour, playing guitar. She introduced him as Mac Alladin. Silly buggers.

OK, this photo of Tori onstage as 'Pip' made me remember what she said in her very first comment about ADP ages ago, how the girls she'd be bringing were 'pioneering women musicians':

PJ Harvey, anyone?

It's funny how that initial info about ADP has been forgotten. I don't think Tori has commented at all in that vein since, but of course that doesn't mean the dolls aren't meant to represent other women artists. Hmm ....

This new one of Santa made me think maybe she's supposed to be Debbie Harry?

It's almost reminiscent of '96, the Dew Drop Inn tour. Uncomfortably so. If the theory about 'Smokey Joe' being the man who attacked her all those years ago is right (based on the fact that Pip, in the song, is debating whether to kill him because of something terrible he did to Clyde), it looks as if she is still battling with him in her head. She starts to lose it when she gets to the Clyde verse.

It seems to be a full-blown song now, with a whole slew of new lyrics and a new arrangement. She's playing it with the Tubular Bells intro! I love this new version, hope it ends up on the official live releases.
