Guys, no talks over the holidays and Xmas yet? What's going on?
Here's been presents marathon since november, Sinterklaas and dad-in-law birthday on the 5h of December, then it's gonna be Iker's birthday and Xmas...I am broke and haven't even bought anything for my Italian family! I am trying to keep it simple this year, thank god I have tons of stuff for the kids, it will last till next year, but I feel the obligation to send cards and get a little thing for my closest people, especially living so far from all of thm...I just don't have ideas nor the time/energy to really go snoop around for presents! At least we finally bought and decorated a tree this past Monday, I was craving for some atmosphere at home, too bad my partner doesn't care much for xmas, cultural difference. I want to make it special for the children, I hope I will manage...the rest is pure consumistic madness, I know

My family are all ill too,xept me who never gets ill (I just clean up all the mess as ever)
I always say Xmas should be like the Olympics,ie once every four years (unless you're a devout Christian,not many of them left hereabouts) and then everyone would look forward to and enjoy it a whole lot more.It comes round almost as soon as the last one has ended...
For the last couple of years I've bought my non-immediate family charity presents,but this year I'm afraid I'm just doing it all online. The hassle of trudging round shops worrying,and ending up buying trash that won't be appreciated has happened too often in my life.I think if you have children,it's worth making the effort to make it special,but otherwise I just look forward to a good meal and getting pissed and having a laugh.

Thats just the problem,if they started the run up to Christmas in mid-December instead of early September,people wouldn't get so fed up with it all.

Sorry to read that your family have been poorly Dave,but at least (hopefully) they'll have recovered by Christmas itself?

The kids have been ill with various throat and chest infections......it seems like half the kids at their schools have been off ill with something or other........including two with scarlett fever.
Thankfully the schools have broken up now.

Very belated Merry Christmas / Happy New Year to all, sorry it's not on time but I've been sans internet again for a while - I'm on my daughter's laptop, she's buggered off to Thailand with her boyf for three weeks. She texted me today saying she hates Bangkok and is so swollen from insect bites she looks like the Elephant Man!
