I wasn't really reading this thread because of the title; as i'm not interested that much in music review sites; i just pick up some of the stuff that's been recommended here or i'll find something new elsewhere

but it's great to read about the bond we feel; even when i never really was involved that much in CQD, this place really feels like a home to me and it's always nice to read the messages every day when i come home; well maybe we'll meet some day; but if it is in this lifetime

shouldn't a meeting be in the netherlands; it's sort of central and there's quite a few of us dutch here then again i'd like it more to be in scandinavia for obvious reasons

maybe without Stina coming we could have someone impersonate Stina; i mean with a wig and boots it's not that hard... and she wouldn't have to perform anyway

Or we could ALL come as Stina and try and guess who the real Stina is
As well as boots/wigs,I think there has to be snuff [:xx]

Thing is though, those differences of opinion at CQD were generally expressed in a patient, articulate way on all sides, which meant that people were learning, taking in other perspectives and maybe rethinking their own views. It was wonderful really, that level of intelligent engagement between rather disparate people.

I totally agree. We had some wonderful discussions over there on all kinds of things. And they could be quite heated too (but in a nice manner). I guess since we've all grown older we have become more mild in our opinions, right?

pitchfork and dusted magazine, and most helpful for the sort of stuff i listen to is good ol' boomkat. the guy that writes the blurb is refreshingly b-s free and a genuine music lover. AND he's not afraid to say something's crap either, which when you consider they're a shop selling stuff, is pretty cool [tup]

I'm a bit partial to Stylusmagazine.com, where I am an editor and also run an electronic music column. It definitely takes up a lot of my time, though.

Otherwise: Flexx.be has all the new/old disco-esque stuff I love.

well well well, I missed that thread... and like Duncan (hello Doc, long time no news, hey ? ), laughed my head off reading the replies to Punkcow's last entry.

So to be boring & on-topic also, I hardly read online reviews, I discover new bands & artists at my record shop, with my friends (most of them are artists anyway), on some message boards ...

Life changed a lot for almost everybody here since 2001.
But it's refreshing to see this style of discussion again here with the help of Punkcow

Well just to add my 2penneth, I browsed the CQD board and occasionally ventured forward a comment, and it took me a while to find this board (I must have a stray cretinous gene [rolling] that meant I could not immediately track it down) but I am beginning to post more often here.

Anyway most of the new music I find these days is through my browsing this and the three other music boards I am registered with (Juliana Hatfield, Tanya Donelly and Throwing Music). You get to know people they get a feeling for what you like and voila recommendations are made and followed up.
