He really, really doesn't want to come out.

She's seeing the midwife again today for a 'stretch and sweep' (sounds painful), this is a procedure that often starts labour off, I didn't enquire too closely as just the sound of it makes me feel ill. If nothing happens after that, she's booked in to be induced next Thursday, the 28th. Which means he'll be a Scorpio.

She's been saying for weeks that he'd be really late and she'd have to be induced. I guess her instincts are spot on. She was convinced he was a boy from the word go too, when everyone else thought she'd have a girl. So far she's been right about everything, so I guess I won't be meeting my grandson until the weekend after next.

OK, so what usually happens is she'll go into natural labour just before she's due to be induced.

Gosh, she's not having much luck - there was a mix up with the appointments, so she's not seen the midwife today after all, they're trying to arrange another one for this week.

It would be so much better if she did go into labour naturally, but some babies just don't seem to want to come out. Time will tell I guess, it's just all so frustrating. My nerves are frayed at this point, god knows how she's feeling.

Whilst serving in my charity shop this morning a lady came in with what looked like a vase shaped object inside a tatty semi -torn plastic carrier bag and promptly plonked it down on the counter. Thinking that it was a donation i was just about to thank her when she said 'oh no, its not a donation, its my mothers ashes......i was wondering if i could have a carrier bag as this one is splitting?'

Oh well, it made a change.

Oh well, she came into the shop in tat and left in a nice brand new carrier bag.
Not sure what the daughter was doing in our road though......the nearest undertakers (where i assume she'd picked the ashes up from) is nearly a mile away.

Maybe she was taking her mum for one last walk around town before scattering her.

Dear blue, I hope your daughter is hanging in there. I was induced with my first son, and although it all went fine I'm hoping to avoid it this time around. I have three weeks left to go and wouldn't mind one bit if he decides to come early. Like, yesterday. And I'm almost certain to have a Scorpio.

Not much else going on here. Fall is here, some gorgeous weather last weekend so I took Henry to the zoo and to a pumpkin patch. I've been having some random sadness about him being an only child for only a little while longer, and wish I had more energy right now to do more of these kinds of things with him while we still can. But I'm taking him to a preseason NBA basketball game tonight, so that should be fun. I'll probably tire out before he does, but that's okay.

Aww Angie, thanks love! She ended up having the stretch and sweep on Thursday, and though baby was going mental for a couple of hours afterwards (I could actually see him moving around, amazing), it didn't bring labour on. So she's booked in to have another one this morning, and if that doesn't work they're going to induce her on Tuesday.

I get what you mean about Henry ... there's rather a special bond between a mother and her only child, he's been the focus of all your attention, energy and love, and you've been the centre of his world. It must seem quite strange to contemplate another little person coming into the equation. But it'll be good for him to have a sibling, someone to share things with and look after and have fun with.

Good luck for your labour Angie, hope all goes well and you don't have to be induced this time.

Woohoo, it's finally started! Had a call at work from Kate to say she's in labour, so I've fininshed early and am just waiting for her partner's mum to come and pick me up so we can go up to the maternity unit.
I'm oddly calm, I thought I'd be falling apart with nerves but I guess the mothering instinct kicks in, I have to be calm to help her through it. Gosh, I hope she doesn't have too difficult a time.

Anyway wish her luck, and hopefully the next time I post it will be to say he's here!
