I' m upset I can't guess what your movie is!
One of the last frech auteur?
Well, let me think... Pialat's dead, Godard is swiss, Bruno Dumont is belgian... I hope it's not Lelouch.
I'm clueless... and quite disappointed with myself!

I'm sorry for upsetting you,though you were on the right lines with Godard,who with Truffaut and Eric Rohmer edited Cahiers du Cinema,the Frenah new wave publication from '57-'63.So yes the film is "Le rayon vert" -directed by Eric Rohmer,an almost forgotten director who has made many quiet,thoughtful films,and still is ,in his eighties.
Anyhow heres a more well kmowm film still-

The blurriness is intentional - one of the director's 'clues' to what's going on. Such a fantastic film.
