Yes I sat on the beach at Ramberg to watch the midnight sun, it was bloody cold mind you, then again I guess it is the Artic Ocean you are looking over.

I'm back from the holiday in Norway. Funny because Scandinavia had the best weather in the last few weeks. And the good weather is not something you go to Scandinavia for.

Kuhn, you were right about Oslo. Lots of hookers and homeless people begging for money. A bit of a shock after spending a week in Akrestr?m, where it seemed that no-one was living there (despite of the houses in the hills).

Hookers and homeless people I dont remember those from my Oslo trips, I loved Oslo it struck me as being a very liveable city.

Actually the mainstreet was full of homeless people and near the station where some ladies offering ehm.... themselves.

But Oslo is a beautiful city. I love the way that they managed to build new buildings with keeping the charm of the old citycentre intact.

Given how staggeringly expensive everything is in Scandinavia, you'd presumably have to be rich as well as desperate/adventurous.


Two more days, two more days and I'm off to lovely Devon. It's my first wedding anniversary on Saturday and both myself and my daughter completely forgot about it when she booked this holiday. We were originally supposed to leave on Saturday, but thank god she remembered last week and managed to change the booking to Sunday. Can you imagine if she hadn't realised? Talk about fodder for domestic discussion.

Luckily hubbie is none the wiser, I think anyway. Hopefully we'll have a lovely day and I won't have to worry how drunk I get coz I can snooze all the way to Devon next day.

I have just booked a week in a cottage in Warkworth Nothumberland I am going there the first week in October. I love that part of England, it is really beautiful and basically remains largley undiscovered.

Actually, since the Euro came Scandinavia isn't that expensive anymore. Only fresh vegetables are quite expensive but the rest has the same pricelevel as in The Netherlands.

It's a line from one of my favourite films, a lovely little early 90s comedy called 'The Butcher's Wife'. Demi Moore plays a clairvoyant young woman from an island off the Carolinas, who ends up marrying a rather staid butcher from Greenwich Village. Ooh I've always wondered where that was filmed, I heard it was on Dartmoor but that's a pretty big area to cover. Might have to check it out if we're near enough. [tup]

I think we might be lucky with the weather, they say it's going to turn warm again next week. Mind you, they said August would be hotter than July too, so what do they know.

I'm off on an oubtack adventure in October, cannot wait! We are driving from Adelaide up to Coober Pedy then up to Alice Springs and then to the rock formally known as Ayres Rock! It is mile and miles and miles and hours and hours and hours and days and days and days of nothing and I have forbidden anyone from mentioning films such as Mad Max and Wolfcreek!!!! I'm not gonna be gutted from a post in some metal shed in the middle of the desert!

On next monday, I have to leave for 1 or 2 weeks as I have to go to the hospital for a surgery. I hope the board will not be a mess when i'm back
