I haven't been this much in to PJ Harvey since she sang with Thom Yorke on the marvelous "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea"

I'm quite surprised by Black Hearted Love, it's sort of verging on mainstream rawk, by Polly's standards. Nice though.

'Stories ..' is my favourite album of hers, I think - the track she did with Thom Yorke, 'This Mess We're In', is absolutely delicious. Best vocal by Thom on anything for years.

But that is the good thing about PJ, even when she is "verging on mainstream rawk", she does let herself go like a certain wig-loving piano player (no, not the missing person) or even Björk (Volta is awkward by her standards).

Very true. 'Stories ...' is probably the most mainstream thing she's done, but it's still a brilliant album with a great deal of love and care put into it. Polly seems to understand the concept of putting out stuff that's actually worthy to stand with what she's done before.
