Hello everyone! Sorry I've not been checking on for months now, absolutely busy as hell here and the days just fly by! How are things with everyone going?

Hey Dan, hope you're well and happy! Things chug along here much as ever, as you can see.

I've had a pleasant week or so being eaten from the inside out by an infection invented by some very sadistic person in a lab somewhere (I'm sure), but I think I'm on the mend. Only had to take two doses of painkiller yesterday rather than the 43 I've been taking every day.

There are some pics of my grandson around if you look hard enough. He's adorable.

God that does sound rather on the unpleasant side, glad to hear that you're on the mend though! How did you get such an aggressive infection?

I don't often get on the net unless it's via my mobile, which is like bloody dial-up!!!! So bar loading a news page I dare not attempt anything else!!!!

I'm finally getting my arse into gear recording a new album, this time very differently, I've been singing live and am part of a singer songwriter collective amusingly named Poodlefox! So feeling fairly happy at the moment, despite the general day to day chaos

Been listening to the new PJ Harvey album constantly too!!

Back from London, weather was great and even if it was a bank holiday and many subway stations closed my friends and I were able to visit many places (this is their first visit there so only very touristic places).
In a negative note, I hurt my right ankle at Tower Bridge so I'm walking like a cowboy for now

I wish i could say that you've missed a lot of Stina-relation action ( a new album, the tv special, the world tour)........but unfortunately i can't. [b)]

I know from experience that a badly twisted ankle can be pretty painful.

Stina's been down in Australia, she's been having a ball presenting X-Factor and she had a huge hit here doing a duet with Delta Goodrem, Friends Are Angels Without Wings!

I'm getting played quite a bit on local radio here these days, who are very supportive of South Australia based artists, which is great exposure for me and I'm starting to get, erm, a reputation...hahahaha

Absolutely no idea Daniel, I was right as rain on Good Friday, had a busy day running around, came home feeling a little tired, fell asleep for two hours in the evening and woke up feeling like hell. I can only think it's down to my immune system problems, clearly it's had a difficult time fighting this infection off. Hopefully the worst is over now.

He's a sweetheart, very laid back little guy, full of smiles for everyone. His safe arrival has made me very happy indeed, I am blessed to have a healthy, happy daughter and grandson.

Oh that sounds interesting, are you finding it challenging working with other songwriters? I haven't heard the new Peej thus far, still trying to get my head around White Chalk.

Unfortunately none of those 'soundcloud' links would work for me.

As for Stina's next album, no news at all i'm afraid. As far as we know,its still remains uncompleted. Stina was supposed to have been recording again last summer/autumn but its not known whether she was completing the album or starting work on a new project. Either way, nothing has materialised.

Gosh. Had some rather disconcerting news at the doctor's this morning. I've had to be given another course of antibiotics (this is the third now) to try and get rid of this infection, and medication to deal with the vertigo caused by the problem in my ears. Whilst there I asked roughly how long before the perforations heal and my hearing gets back to normal, only to be told that sometimes this just doesn't happen. The perforations just never heal properly and the hearing never comes back to what it was.

I'm stunned. I had no idea this was the case for some people. The idea that my hearing might be permanently affected by this never even occurred to me.

If it's still the same in a month the doctor will refer me to an ENT specialist, and take it from there.

This is bad news Beth, I hope things will go better soon for you !

Antibiotics are less and less efficients unluckily, because of many different reasons. Let's hope these ones will work !

Beth, keeping in mind that your ears are suffering from an infection at the moment, once that is cleared up your hearing should improve a lot on what it is now. Unfortunately,hearing, like eyesight, gradually deteriorates as you get older anyway so that has to be taken into consideration. Hopefully the future isn't as gloomy as your doctor makes out.

Did he/she say how your hearing might be affected?

I'm happy to hear you're doing better but sorry for the alarming news! But I agree with Rob, there should be a big improvement soon regardless of whether or not it gets completely back to normal. WHAT AN ORDEAL!

She said that the infection clearing is a separate issue to the healing of the perforations and my hearing. The one doesn't necessarily follow the other. The infection has cleared quite a bit since last week and she's optimistic it will be a matter of days till it's gone (praise Jeebus!), but we'll just have to wait and see what happens with the rest. Even though a lot of the infection is now gone there's been no improvement at all in my hearing so far, it's still the same.

I'm just going to trust that it will eventually get back to normal. If it doesn't it's not the end of the world, far worse things happen to people every day. I'll just be living in a world that sounds exceedingly strange.

Thanks hon, yes it has turned into quite an ordeal considering I was perfectly fine ten days ago! How strange that something like this can just come out of nowhere and cause chaos. It's just as well we don't know what's coming sometimes, isn't it.
