Yes I must say Alex I'm surprised that it's taking a third dose of antibiotics to get rid of it completely, but I think it's been rather an aggressive infection so maybe it's not that surprising. I don't know, I'm hardly ever ill in this way, I've rarely had to have antibiotics for anything.

I was reading somewhere a while ago that apparently we are all exposed to low level antibiotics all the time, because they're so widely prescribed that they are in the water system. Every time you drink from a tap you're getting a small dose of AB's.

Actually one of the things that's been strangest is the way music sounds now, I wish I could notate it because I'm sure it'd be interesting for a musician to see - I can't distinguish tunes anymore at all because what I'm getting is a series of 'wrong notes' that don't seem to bear any relation at all to the tune as I know it. It's quite bizarre. It's particularly noticeable in piano music, solo piano sounds to me like a cross between some sort of prepared piano and a glockenspiel, with all these dissonant notes. Weird.

Haha, I think Dave would find how I'm hearing music quite interesting, though of course I would NOT wish this on a musician! :D

Well, it's just a hive of activity round here, innit. :D

At my daughter's today so just popping in to say hi while I have the chance, hope everyone is well. I'm totally over my recent bout of illness and my hearing is almost back to normal thank goodness, if there is any permanent damage it's very slight.

I officially start looking after my grandson at the end of this month, so hope to be online a bit more then.

Good to hear from you, Beth, and especially to hear that your health problems have resolved themselves!

It has been quiet here.

I have a few health issues, I went to see the Doc a few weeks back because I'm getting the odd spate of angina symptoms. After doing two exercise tests with heart ECGs, there was nothing showing up, my heart health seems fine-but to be sure, I have to undergo an angiogram.

Which, on paper, is bloody terrifying-

An injection in the groin :cry:
A catheter inserted into my arteries :?
Pushed up into my heart [b)]
Lots of X-rays :roll: (the equivalent of 500 days of 'normal' radiation)
Afterwards, long recovery required for 'bruising' :evil:

There is a 1 in 800 chance of DEATH during an angiogram, for fuck's sake. That seems like pretty high odds to me. There's also a 1 in 400 chance of heart attack and other similarly cheerful stats.
The one good thing is that once it's done, they will know exactly what I need (well, so long as I'm still alive/have survived the heart attack etc).

Meanwhile, added to my daily diet of high blood pressure pills and statins, I now have BETA BLOCKERS, ASPIRIN and an anti-indigestion pill, plus I have a phial of amyl nitrate in case I get an angina attack. I feel like a junkie from the 50s lining up a load of drugs every morning.
