I wrote out my notice in work on Sunday, and tore it up. Three times. God I want to get out of there, but the 'sensible' part of me is scared about leaving without another job to go to. I've done that before and been fine, but it's very different economic circumstances now.

Gah. Life.

Yeah I know how you feel Beth. I'm also fed up with my job. The letter to end my contract is on the diningtable, all signed. But I'm also hesitant to quit without having a new joboffer.

On facebook I saw that Elfy is looking for a new job also....

Just back from fantastic holiday, mostly in Orkney-wonderful. Heard seals singing on the first night, the next morning 600 curlews landed right next to where we were camped. And so it continued, in glorious weather. Stromness is one of the best and most charming towns I've ever visited, and St. Magnus cathedral in Kirkwall is now my favourite cathedral, warm and solid unlike the cold and lofty Gothic ones.Hoy is the best island. Etc.
Campervan was fantastic, albeit a tad cramped with three humans and a large dog (he's called Alfie, Angie. And lots of other names we make up for him). Having a camper meant we could just stop wherever we fancied and sleep/make a cup of tea.
I think I want to live in Northern Scotland, with a lifetime supply of midge repellent.

You jammy sod, sounds fantastic. Orcadians are supposed to be a law unto themselves and not terribly Scots, more Scandinavian in their nature/culture.

No, I decided against it in the end. The sensible part of me won out, which doesn't happen very often.

I'm just so frustrated, I've hated working for the company for a long time and now this new manager ... he's such an arsehole, a lazy sod who doesn't give a damn about store standards or anyone else's point of view. I feel completely demoralised every time I go into the place, now. I'm the only member of the old team left and I just don't like these new people. I keep telling myself that at least I'm only in there three days a week now, it fits in with looking after Rocco etc etc. I should just stick it out, but I'm not at all good at persevering in situations where I'm really unhappy.

Never mind. Watching my grandson this morning fetching a banana out of my handbag and investigating it as if it was the most fascinating object in the world reminds me what actually matters.

Actually I have two bananas in my handbag today. I always have a banana in my handbag, you never know when you might need one!

It was so funny watching him trying to figure out what this curious thing was, he spent ages turning it around and exploring the stalk. Mind, when I peeled it and offered him a bit he didn't seem nearly as impressed.

He is such a delight. Proper getting around now so you can't take your eyes off him, right now I've got him contained in his bright red inflatable sports car but he's going to be climbing out of it before long. His mum had to lower the mattress in his cot recently because he was starting to look as if he might climb out of that! Can't believe he's ten months old already.

He's being baptised into the Catholic faith the Sunday after next, purely so he can go to the best school in town when he's five.

Been meaning to call in for ages, just so crazy busy these days!

How is everyone today?

I'm good, recording an album, negotiating a deal with Australian independent label Preservation, all looking promising, and the big shock is I am playing live now, if any of you guys are in Adelaide on the 13th September 2011, I'm playing at The Grace Emily! I've gotten over my stage-phobia to an extent! 3D Radio has been playing my songs, though I miss hearing it every single time due to not listening to the radio at all! So maybe 2012 might just be a good year.

I've also moved house and now live on a 12 acre property outside of Adelaide, which is great as it means I can amp up my electric auto harp to whatever volumes I like, play the piano as loud as possible and generally make a racket. Providing Shane is out hehe. The wildlife up here is amazing, birds everywhere, loads of parrots and cockatoos, foxes, rabbits, not to mention about 5,000 sheep. We've got chickens here, 6 Rhode Island Reds, who are far too tame and mob me if they think I have bread! If only they'd start laying!!!! The downside is the 2.5km walk to the bus stop (still won't learn to drive...).

I see Stina is as prolific as ever...ah well I have Dynamite...what else do I need! And I just love everything so far from Night Of Hunters, well done Tori, just wish she'd drop the vanity! Just got tickets to see Portishead in November, cannot wait, finally someone other than bloody Pink is coming to Adelaide!!!

Film wise the only film that has totally blown me away of late is Amer, fabulous homage to Dario Argento and Mario Bava, oozing with style and other more sordid detail. It's like a nightmare but with lovely shoes.

Well must run, will try and make a more concerted effort to check in more often, every time I see the pink barbie theme I smile

Yay, that's fantastic Dan! I was waiting to see your reaction, because you've been a pretty stern critic of the last few albums. I'm so thrilled by the positive reaction the album is getting, haven't heard a note of it myself yet because I'm being good and waiting for the CD to be released this time, but gosh I'm loving reading all the reaction on the boards!

You sound well and very busy, glad everything is going OK for you at the moment.

I gave my resignation letter yesterday to my boss as I found a much more interesting and creative job; closer to my place and paid more too

Even more I haven't applied for the job as a recruiter contacted me to know if I was interested by it.
My current job was hell, overwhelmed by work and impossible deathlines... That's over now and it's relieving to have new horizons.
