How long did it take you to buy a Stina album after hearing her first?
I reckon nobody can beat my anti-record : heard 'Alone at Night' in c.1992,taped a few things between then and late 2002,when I finally bought a CD (all of them!).

I first heard her shortly before 'This Is ..' was released, so I think I must have bought all the albums pretty quickly thereafter. I got them all at more or less the same time, so I had a great deal of Stina music to find my way through. Then a while later I discovered Rob and co. on the barbieboard.

Usually I buy CDs very shortly after I discover new artists.
My current record is 2 hours after I listened to Sarah Slean for the first time

yep, at that time her CDs were only available in canadian stores.
now her latest album (only this one) is available in France !

Heard my first stina track in 1994. Bought And She Closed Her Eyes, Memories Of A Color and Dynamite in 1996.

I bought ASCHE (soon after its release apparently) on impulse and then would have bought MOAC but I can't recall now how soon afterwards it would have been. Probably not very long I would have thought and certainly well before Dynamite was released.

With hindsight it was just as well that I did discover Stina through ASCHE and not MOAC otherwise I doubt very much I would be on these boards now.

Heard MOAC in 1992. Then I had the ASCHE tracks copied on tape for a while, and I must have bought the first two albums in 1995, when I for the first time could afford cds. I bought my first cd-single in 1997 (Dynamite).

I was in a band that was recording an album in a residential studio in Oxfordshire. I had only just joined the group and was basically sharing a flat with people I didn't really know very well; wasn't really sure that I even liked them, or them me.

The studio complex was great, MTV in every room as was fashionable in the early '90s, and I saw the 'Little Star' video on constant rotation (imagine - Stina on constant rotation on television!!)on MTV when it first came out and was totally intrigued by this fantastic video featuring a very beautiful girl with a gossamer voice singing this wonderfully delicate song. It became my comforter whilst I was there. Whenever I felt a bit out of sorts, I'd tune in to MTV and within the hour, I could lose myself in that song.The rest of the band didn't see what I saw in it ( this was in the heady days of Britpop, when anything that didn't sound like The Small Faces or The Kinks was generally sneered at. I didn't care. this song had been put out in the world for me!
This would have been in early 1993, April/May, I think. I may be wrong, but my memory is like Swiss cheese these days.
Anyway, we made the album, it got great reviews, and I stayed in the band, and (for a time) we all got on great. Stina had pulled me through!

I went on an ill-fated trip to Houston, Texas that June (could have been July) to see a paramour, that ended quite badly, so I was feeling rather sorry for myself. When I got back to Heathrow airport I passed an HMV store that happened to have ASCHE on display. I recognised the cover picture as being Stina from the repeated exposure to the video and picked up a copy to look at the song titles, hoping to find 'Little Star' among them.
The first song was, as we all know, 'When Debbie's Back From Texas'.
Well!!!
I bought it immediately, Stina pulled me through another crisis, and a musical love affair began.
Can you guess my name?

As I said in the thread that created this one, I only bought my first cd single of Stina a few years after Little Star, but then that was a single by Yello featuring Stina. My first album, being ASCHE of course, I bought some years ago while on vacation in Norway. I then bought a new album every year we went there, so there was always a new one to listen to. Until TWIS of course, because now i'm waiting for three years already as well...

Love the story - sometimes you get these moments where it's almost like the magic curtain has dropped and you can see the machine working.

Discovered Stina in 2000 (I think).
