Desire Avenue

Yesterday I picked up the 7" single (vinyl) of 'Another story girl' b/w 'A walk in the park' from eBay.I got it as much as anything for the pic which is not in the MOAC booklet.
Here's a small version-

What's (mildly) interesting is that in closeup you can see that Stina has her hair swept behind her ear,which looks really nice.

I also realise that I now have quite a collection of vinyl with Stina,plus other assorted rarities.
As far as the vinyl goes,in addition to the 7",I've got
10" Memories of a Colour/Soon After Xmas with this pic (I call it 'Scottish Widows' )
12'' MOAC album (NOT the 'Stina' version)-again for the large scale photo (I love these blue-tinged ones).
12" Little Star plus 2 remixes,with the 'Fader control' pic on the front
12" Dynamite/Dynamite ST mix/Greetings from the Old World,in plain black sleeve
10" PAS remixes,with Stina's blurry pic of some stairs by a machine on the back
12" Yello -To the Sea (Northern/Yello Dubmarine/Aqualite/Original mixes),in plain black sleeve
12" Yello -To the Sea (Bangin'/Yello Dubmarine/Original/TSWL mixes)

These things are presumably becoming increasingly rare.
What's anyone else got?

erm......as well as the Swedish MOAC vinyl album I do have the US 'Stina' version too.

Actually, I have no rarity at all. I don't know the reason why but I don't care about that sorts of things. The only thing I'm interested in is the music, not the collection.

Just added the Dynamite 10" to that lot. With apologies to Paulr (haven't seen him here for a while) who was bidding against me.

Me neither normally,Franck,but I seem to have made an exception for Stina...

The nice thing about collecting Stina is that,even taken worldwide,there isn't really a great deal to collect.
And if you're patient (and lucky) enough its not beyond reason that you could collect just about all that there is to collect.

But just imagine if you wanted to collect everything by....say Madonna,Kylie,Tori or Kate Bush....where would one start? You could spend a life time aquiring various pieces of memorabilia and records etc and still not be anywhere near having a complete collection.

Has anybody seen/got the 'Aberdeen' dvd?

I can't remember who sent me the JC dvd copy now-either Franck or Elfy.Or kuhn
Anyway it's in French with some Swedish-so that's a caveat for the less linguistic among us.It's a pretty sad and gruelling docu of a homeless man.Stina's music is perfect.With the language barrier,I find it hard to get a real sense of Jean-Claude,but there's a mix of sympathy and revulsion in the film.I like it-I like docus,reality;plus I think more and more that Stina's s/t for it is the best thing she's done,lyrically and musically.
As for 'Aberdeen',yes,I've seen it,thanks to Barrett who lent me the DVD by post .Again,I found it difficult to sympathise with the storyline,which also deals with alcoholism-none of the characters are remotely likeable,I thought.It's basically the story of an alcoholic father whose twenty-something daughter tracks down to bring him to his estranged wife's deathbed.In the process of the 'roadmovie' bit of the film,a violent character is accidentally killed by the daughter,and Dad sobers up enough to do the right thing by her (sort of).Not very satisfying.Stina's song is wheeled on for the closing credits only; and since I think it's a pretty crappy bit of music anyway,I wasn't really looking forward to it.
But I'd be interested to hear what anyone else thought of it.

I never watched Jean-Claude, does the movie is good enough to seek it (online ) ?

Thanks for the reviews Dave.....I hadn't realised that Stina's contributions had been so underused for the Aberdeen film.

Oh Alex, the Jean-Claude film is DEFINITELY worth looking for!!
It really is an excellent documentary and Stina's music blends perfectly well, serving the purpose of the movie!
I had a videotape copy (taped from tv) that a danish friend had sent to me although i am not very sure i still have it. Actually i wonder if i didn't send it to some member for him to make a digital copy. Or maybe not. I don't remember.
Too bad... Because it surely isn't easy to come by!

Totally agree.I'd like to watch it with a French person,because the French goes too fast for me to follow..

er,um.If it was me,I think you just sent a copy,not your original!...but I can't remember where I got mine from

I don't think you'll find it on the net.It is rather hard to come by at all now.I was shocked to discover last year,when I was corresponding with Jonas Nystrom,who did the fantastic string arrangements (and on Dynamite/PAS) that HE'D never heard the finished songs.... I hope he got paid.

Another example of the length of time that passes between the recording and its commercial release?
Probably Jonas had long forgotten all about his contributions by the time they were relaesed.

It kind of reminds me of Virginia Astley who not only hadn't got a recording she'd made 20 years earlier but she couldn't even remember recording the song in the first place.
