I just watched it and it's a brilliant, fantastic, incredible movie !

the plot: Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an offbeat young woman makes an unusual decision regarding her unborn child.

it's funny, the boy does not appear on the french poster... I'm planning on seeing it.

Wonderful film, I hope Ellen wins her oscar!

Marion Cotillard deserves to win the OScar for her wonderful performance.

I've heard/read people raving about this movie, but I have to say I'm wondering why, just based on the premise of 'young girl gets pregnant'. I mean ... it's an everyday event, so I guess I'm struggling to imagine what new take on it could possibly justify the hype. I'll probably watch it but I fear another 'Amelie', ie everyone one else finds the heroine adorable and the movie wonderful and I just find both incredibly irritating.

I'm not into comedies so this one will completely pass me by.

it's so far from Amélie Poulain !
Juno is a real teen, with a very special vocabulary, a big love of 70's punk music; but also she is very intelligent and sensible. So the main character is far from Amélie and her wonderful word; but it doesn't mean it's not a romantic movie in a way.
Also the soundtrack is very very great (featuring my longtime love: Cat Power).

I love indie movies because they are not written to make huge money at first, they just want to tell a story. The previous hype around a movie like this was "Little miss sunshine" and it deserved the hype too.

Just remembered that Ellen Page was the girl in Hard Candy (now,that is a great film)......I didn't recognise her from the poster photograph though.

It's a very sharp, observant and in many places poignant film.

Amelie is a totally different universe to Juno. No cutesiness at all!!! Juno is a real teen, not some ghastly apple pie fed piece of fiction (thank god!!!!).

I highly recommend it as I think it's one of the first films to tackle the subject of teenage pregnancy in this manner. Another reason to highly praise it is the fact at no point does the film descend into schmaltz or develop a moral preachy high ground.

Also the film is genuinely very funny without descending to visual gags, toilet humour, or dumbing itself down. The actors all do a fantastic job, it certainly was incredibly well cast. And the soundtrack is just brilliant!!

Well if you and Alex loved it so much Daniel, I know it can't be as run of the mill as the premise makes it appear. I'll watch it with an open mind, and hopefully share your high opinion of it.

Oh no - according to the ad for the soundtrack album, there's a belle and sebastian song in this movie? AAARRGHHH!!

Is this very prominent in the film? Cos I might have to skip it after all.

No its not prominent, but it is a good one (then again I like B&S), Kimya Dawson's tracks have the most prominence.

The film is excellent by the way.

I also thought Ellen was brilliant in Hard Candy, so she is definately one to watch.
