Atonement

I missed Atonement when it was in the cinemas but have now caught up with it on dvd.
The film hinges on two days in the life of an aging authoress,who teminally ill,has written an account of her life and acusations that she had made in childhood and which had tragic repercusssions on her sister's life.
I was going to go into detail about the plot but got bogged down as in many ways its quite a complex film as like 'The Hours' or 'Solaris', its not always clear whether what is being seen is 'the reality'of what was supposed to have happened.
Personally,I do like the jumpy narrative....ie, you watch a scene from one perspective and then see it unfold again,in more detail,from another perspective.
Its also a beautiful film to watch,whether its the country house in rural 1930's England or the 5 minute unbroken scene as the camera moves weaves around the soldiers on Dunkirk beach in 1940.
And seeing Keira Knightly emerge from the fountain,soaking wet in her under garments must be worth the price of the dvd alone!
