It seems that Helen's emailadress has stopped working. So it seems that we've lost our only source of news on Stina. I've been asking her an update on the last message that possibly an album could be expected somewhere at the end of this year. But the message bounced.

maybe we should forget everything about Stina, there's no future for her music and no future for her fans. her career is over too ? maybe it's time to say goodbye.

Yep,RobB and I both tried a few weeks back and the email bounced.
Paul,when you mentioned something about a 'second child' a few months back.Was there any truth in that? Was there even a first? It would explain a lot.

I'm not in contact with Stina directly. All contact always was through Helen and Ian lately. I haven't spoken or mailed stina in a long long time.

The baby was a guess, although it seemed to fit in her life. In interviews she mentioned having a steady boyfriend for the first time in years. And, to add a typical cliche about women near their forties, her biological clock is ticking so maybe she felt an urge to have a baby (Beth, don't shoot me for this comment but I've seen this happening in my circle of friends lately).

I think what we don't know about Stina far outweighs what we do, which is something I guess we've all been well aware of since near the start.

But silence is silence, and she may be just doing what Kate Bush did, taking a decade off to have a family, be a mother, and then will return with a double opus about washing clothes and watercolour challenge...

She'll either pop up again very soon or vanish leaving behind a secret legacy. I'll always have Dynamite, the album of her career IMO, and that's good enough for me, everything else since then has been a bonus.

One confusing issue (for me anyway) was the launch of her official webpage (complete with unique artwork) in January 2007 with the 'coming soon' message.

That message has always struck me as being genuine and that the new album was supposed to have been released by that Spring so it does seem that,for what ever reason,Stina has had a change of heart since then.

The lack of infomation as to what is going on is so frustrating and the ever deminishing list of contacts/sources of info (Helen,Ian,Veronique) is very disappointing.

But it all comes back to Stina and her attitude towards her fans. Reading between the lines,one of the reasons why CQD closed was because of frustration caused between what they knew and what they were allowed to say.

Agreed with everything said.

And add personal "promises" (or rather "possibilites") that never happened to it; - I guess I am now one of the many ex-Stina fans.

I do still love the music, but I guess the "affection" is gone for many of us, and if that was what Stina intended - kudos to her.

I don't think there's anything to shoot in that observation, sweetie. It's a fact that many women focus on their work in their 20s and 30s these days, and delay motherhood until near 40 - there's plenty of statistical and anecdotal evidence to confirm it as a noticeable trend. It's even become an issue for the health service in the UK in recent years, because older first-time mums tend to use more NHS resources than younger ones.

I dunno, it's a perfectly feasible explanation, but somehow I just don't see Stina as the maternal type. Her own family experience wasn't brilliant, she seems to have a lot of difficulty with just living life on her own terms .... she's never come across in her rare interviews as the warm and fuzzy type. But as you say, the ticking of the biological clock can become quite deafening when you get to this age, so who knows.

Stina is not mentioned anywhere! Even her past releases are not to be found on the site. [b)]

Yeah, it does seem much more likely that she's just having difficulty finding a record company willing to invest money in putting her album out, to be honest. Sounds as if another door may have closed on her.

I'm sure we'll get to hear the album eventually, by some means or other.

Are you sure,Paul? I just Googled around and it looks to me as if Co-op is a subsidiary of V2 rather than a new name...
Whatever,I'm privately of the opinion that Stina has finally wigged out completely. Anyone who so determinedly shoots herself in the foot must really want to lie down and be avoided...

I think I will be really surprised if an album comes out,or that screamingly funny 'Coming Soon' ever changes.
