He's my favourite artist, what an imagination and talent!

oh yea, i love his work, especially the twisted perspective ones! i should really visit the museum in The Hague some time...

Never even heard of him to be honest,but his drawings (or paintings) are certainly impressive.

When were they done?
They look old unless thats just his style.

I think he's a pretty famous artist around the world, but i'd like to see how many more people here have heard of him; well he lived from 1898-1972; and it's particularly his post WWII work that made him famous. Those are the interwoven patterns and false perspective ones; his pre-war art is more traditional allthough very interesting linework too. It's all graphic art, so that's maybe why it's less familiar to some then like famous painters are.

Wirbel...Is there an Escher exhibition in The Hague ?
Whilst in Amsterdam last October ,I enquired of the whwereabouts of Eschers art exhibition and was told there was none.

I'd have happily travelled down there on your wonderful railways...God theyre so punctual

There's a permanent museum with his art in The Hague; i believe it's quite new, like since two years or so... you can find info (in english as well as in dutch) on the museum's website:

The admission is ?7,50 though; where do they come up with high prices for museums like that. [fire]

At 7.50 euro its cheaper than the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum(sp) , both 9 euro,but yeah they should be free in an ideal world.
