I'm brand spanking new to this site, so sorry if there's already a thread about this but i ran across the following info and got really really excited as Emiliana Torrini is pretty great.

Following on from her critically acclaimed sets 'Love In The Time Of Science' and her first for Rough Trade 'Fisherman's Woman', the forthcoming 'Me And Armini' (released 8th September) sees her working once again with her long time producer/collaborator Dan Carey resulting in what we feel is destined to be one of the albums of 2008.

'Me And Armini' is a hugely ambitious and aspirational pop record with Emiliana’s soaring voice centre stage, bolstered by a rich gamut of musical styles. From the summery skank of the title track to the surging, breathless, first single 'Jungle Drum' (released 29th September) and yearning, spine-tingling 'Big Jumps' and much more in between 'Me And Armini' is a truly fantastic album.

'Me And Armini' will be released as a digital single in the US exclusively via iTunes on 19th August, with the album of the same name to follow on 9th September.

That track is the opposite of ambitious. Hopefully the rest of the cd is different - I've always liked Emiliana.

Well, I have blind faith in her.

Regardless of the track, I'm excited to see what's done on the rest of it.

There's a new track on her myspace, called "big jump", that is lovely. [love]

Found, ehem, the albums some weeks ago - but have yet to actually really give it a close listen. There are full promo CDRs out there as well.

Don't like Me and Armini though.

I got the album today, a cd shop in adelaide put it out early, yay! It's great by the way, very very good.

By the way my favourite track by her is Flirt, it was on the B-side to Easy, that is a beautiful little song. Her rendition of If You Go Away is spellbinding too...

The lastest issue of 'Q' magazine gives the album a very positive four star review.

still didn't hear anything from the new CD apart from the song "Me and Armini" on myspace, not my cup of tea, but who knows... I guess I'll have a listen to the whole thing soon.

Now I must admit after listening her myspace that "Gun " is a great track...

I utterly adore this record, and I really do like Me And Armini, it's a great song. However standouts are without doubt Gun, Bleeder, Fireheads and Jungle Drum.

It's a bit of a weird album. The last one was totally a perfect journey from beginning to end. This album is more a couple of random tracks collected on an album. But there are some beautiful tunes on the album.

give the album a few listens and it will gel perfectly, i like the variation on this record. The journey on this record is held within the lyrics, which seem to focus on illicit affairs! (what has she been up to??!? )

My favourites at the moment are Ha Ha, Gun, Bleeder, Birds, Big Jumps and Fireheads.

Just love this album.

So, I finally got it and I really like it. It's different... not as weird as I usually like my music to be, but good.

I think Heard it All Before is my favorite, but it takes me forever to figure my favorite off of new albums.

Lately, I've been listening to her fellow Icelandic band, múm. Goodness, everything they do astounds me.

I'm going to see Emiliana Torrini live next month in Paradiso in Amsterdam with my boyfriend. I'm really looking forward to that.
