Starting tomorrow (Tuesday)night beginning with The Seventh Seal at 22.45.followed by Woody Allen on Bergman and then
Summer with Monica at 00.55 and carries on all week.

Well spotted,John.I occasionally look at Film 4 sched. and then forget about it for weeks.
I've been waiting to see 'Smiles of a summer night' again for donkey's years.At the time I thought it was the best film I'd ever seen,so I'm interested to see how I react now.It had everything-like Shakespeare,on whom it's clearly modelled.
I've seen all the others plenty of times.'7th Seal','Wild strawberries','and 'Virgin Spring' are unquestionably among the all-time greats,but I'd highly recommend 'Summer with Monika' too,a wonderful,truthful love story.
By the time of 'Persona',Bergman is starting to become the director for whom all the barbed clichés were mounting up,but the early films are just wonderful celebrations of what it is to be human.
Big connections with Stina,too...

I'm particularly looking forward to Wild Strawberries tonight ,cos i dont remember ever seeing it

Well Dave,if you let me know what you want ,ican make dvd's of them for you.I'll be recording them all anyway ,and i've recently got one of those new fangled dvd,hard disc recorder thingies( thats why ive not been around much lately,i'm getting all my old video tapes onto disc) ....so your wish is my command.

Well if you felt like doing 'Smiles' I'd be delighted; if there's space you could bung on 'Seventh Seal' or 'Wild Strawberries' (or both?
).I could swop you some Stina rarities...?
