Greetings from the Old World

Post by sound world »

Something I love about this song-the absence of drums. The rhythm is almost entirely driven by Stina's guitar playing, which has fantastic groove. There IS a drum loop which comes in at the second verse but is way down in the mix,and drowned out by the bass guitar which adds another groove. Otherwise the instrumentation has one extra guitar added later, that's it.
It's one of my favourite Stina songs. Anyone know why she chose the Simon and Garfunkel bit in the middle? There is a reference in the words to grandstanding, but why did she choose this particular bit of crowd-pleasing?

Nice song that I'd forgotten about for a long time but have been playing again recently.

The S&G recording is odd. What was the source of that?
