Dusting through my CDs I came across Patti Rothberg - Between The 1 And The 9, what a beautiful album and I wonder what ever happened to her? She had such a beautiful voice and fantastic songs, my favourite was always Looking For A Girl

She was out in 1996-97, anyone else remember her?

She has a slightly bluesy voice, musically she is rootsie/blues rock mixed with alternative rock. Her voice is very distinct and she has a very good way with words!! Shame she got dropped after one record. She did quite a high profile tour back in 1996 supporting The Black Crows, but still didn't shift any records.

The album is stuffed full of great songs, Looking For A Girl, Inside, Flicker, It's Alright, Treat Me Like Dirt, Up Against The Wall...

I just discovered she independently put out a second album in 2003, might be curious enough to get it... [disguise]

In fact, I'd rather be Holly Golightly than Audrey, as I didn't watch Breakfast at Tiffany's yet, but the book is one of my favorite ever!

When I read the name Patti Rothberg the album title immediately came into my mind, but I was racking my brain trying to think of the song I liked. Yep - Treat Me Like Dirt. I have to admit, I think I did eventually sell my copy, but it was a favorite of mine for a while.

Speaking of The Black Crowes, I recently read that they are reuniting for a tour. I think that'd be a good show to see. [disguise]

There was a Patti Rothberg track I really loved on a Q compilation some years ago, I can't for the life of me remember the name of it now but it had a gorgeous line about secadas in it. Her voice was quite striking.

The song that is worth seeking out is Looking For A Girl, oh that song makes my heart stop beating it's just stunning.

'Flicker', that was it! Great song and I loved the way she sang it, real attitude but with a kind of soft, sexy feel to it as well.

wow, i thought noone else knew of her... I found her album in a used record store and randomly picked it up. thank goodnes it was a store where you could listen to the used cds before u bought it...i bought it right away.

i know she did one or two more records, i tried finding them once but i eventually forgot about it..maybe now i'll resume my search. if her others are as good it definitely worth the trouble.

gotta love the song "this one's mine" but really, i could say every last song on that album, except "stranger" is a favorite of mine.

she was discovered in NYC playing apparently and offered a contract "between the 1 and 9" in the subway i think, but thats where the title comes from. theres a highway 1/9 here and i think of her music whenever i see it;)
