I'm not enamoured of 'Wild Man' at all, but I've just been reading an interview Kate did recently and gosh, she's just so adorable! She really seems like a genuinely lovely person. She has a top hat that she keeps on a shelf specially for snowmen. :D :D :D

Only one week to go but for those who really can't wait, here's the whole album:

I'm being good though and am waiting for the arrival of my cd next week. :)

No interest musically for me. For the lyrics I can't say. The only good point for me is her voice.

Thanks for the link Rob. ^

On first listen I'm liking quite a bit on this album, some of it is really beautiful and I suspect will repay repeated listening. This might be the first Kate album I've liked since 1989!! Her voice now is so gorgeously yummy and rich, it really pulls you into the music.

I'm going to have to listen a lot more but yeah, with the exception of Wild Man I like it already.

I've been playing the album over the weekend and i'm hooked. Particularly like the first three tracks. I think Dave might enjoy this album too? :)

I've always been a bit allergic to Kate Bush, though I respect her hugely. She just doesn't float my boats, for whatever mysterious reason. She always sounds a bit like a child let loose in a sweetshop; I think I prefer my women singers to sound a bit more experienced.
This album has been getting high praise from the critics. If it swims into my ken, I'll give it a listen for sure.

The third track, Misty, is my current favourite.

I've had the album on a loop since Sunday, it's ridiculously good. I was initially a little wary of Elton and Stephen Fry's appearances, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised!! I think for me it's between Misty and Among Angels for my favourite. The songs are beautifully written and I love the fact that she can make a 15 minute song pass by without it once becoming a drag. 2011 has certainly been full of wonderful surprises, this is the icing :-)

Of all the songs i think Among Angels is the one thats most benefited from repeated playings. I wasn't overkeen on it to start with, judging it perhaps unfairly with other piano based songs like Warm & Soothing, Under The Ivy, Coral Room etc........but although Among Angels is far less immediate than those songs,it does have a very subtle beauty about it.

So I must admit my first impressions were pretty quickly settled.

Honestly I was expecting something more adventurous maybe - despite the already mostly uninspired and old-school-sounds Aerial - and not piano-driven, but the production is really good, touches of jazz & contemporary music fitting perfectly.

Yeah I think Kate's adventurous days are long gone Franck, she settled into safe a long time ago and she doesn't seem inclined to leave it again. That said, she can still produce lovely work within that safe sort of production she favours. I thought Aerial was a mostly terrible album, totally mediocre, but the new one has some genuine beauty and imagination. It's not a masterpiece by any stretch, but probably as good as late-Kate is going to get.

A nice simple but effective promo film for an edited Lake Tahoe.

Nice song.
That's really similar to the shadow show I made last Christmas...
