Desire Avenue

I saw something incredibly rare on Swedish auction site Tradera a couple of days ago:

Stina Nordenstam "Dynamite 2 Desire" Book. Not only was it only released in 100 copies back in 2006 together with the album Dynamite, but this copy was also signed by Stina. The starting bid was 119 Kr (about 20 euro) and I was watching it until the last hour when I tried to bid on it, with only one previous bidder. I went as high as 280 kr (Though I know it's worth much more, but I'm a bit broke at the moment). In the last 30 seconds a bidding war began between two other people and the book eventually went for the staggering 3 250 kr (348 euro / USD 376).

A bit out of my price range to say the least, and currently the 'This is Stina Nordenstam' DVD is up for sale on ebay for about 90 USD, which I thought was a lot!

I know some of you on here probably have Stina's autograph, but I for one have never seen an autographed Stina item ever. I really hoped the limited reach of that auction site would mean no one else would be aware of it until I'd bagged myself a bargain, but no such luck...

And I would do it again if I had the chance!

Yes, I managed finally to get registered with Tradera despite having no Swedish!

In 15 years of closely following Stina's fortunes, I have never seen another copy of either book offered anywhere (though I do own 'Explosives' and have a scan of 'Desire'). So I don't think it was really an insane amount, when you consider how scarce copies of the books are.

I'm sorry for taking it right in front of your eyes, even more so after you managed to register at Tradera. It was the first time that I've ever seen one up for sale, and I figured that I'd never get another chance. The last seconds were truly nerve wrecking!

Third big bidder was 'lincho' - I wonder if that's maybe Linc who posted a few things here around the time of the Messageboard book, er, 11 years ago .

Blown_A_Wish, I could send you scans of Stina's autograph...it's near enough the real thing!

£250 is a lot of money but anything signed by Stina is very collectible. So hopefully, as well as having the pleasure of owning a very rare publication, it will turn out to be a sound long-term investment as well.

To me it's an "insane amount" given how much I'd be able to afford, but I get how incredibly rare the item is, so in that context I see how it's maybe not that much and how it's also an investment

I'm not the least bit bitter about not winning, I couldn't have afforded it anyway, but I'm delighted it went to a real fan and not just someone who was gonna put it on ebay straight away to make more money! I didn't know there was a third bidder though, it all happened so fast the last few seconds, I was putting in another low bid (my browser mustn't have updated the last rapid bids) and then the second it ended I was stunned to see what had happened in the blink of an eye
