Oh you mean.......Jon Astleys niece,Edwin Astleys grand'daughter,Judy Astleys niece,Pete Townshends daughter,Virginia Astleys niece......that Emma Townshend ?

"Winterland" is a pretty good album,although in many ways,its a tale of two singles.......Last Time I saw Sadie & Five A-side Football.

For trivia freaks,Emma,as a 12 year old, sang on her aunt Virginia Astleys "We Will Meet Them Again" track (from her "A Bao A Qu" ep) and "A Summer Long Since passed" (from the "From Gardens Where We Feel Secure" album )
As a 16 year old,Emma also joined her aunt on stage in one of Virginias last UK concerts in 1985.

Funnily enough.............................. no ......at least,not closely related,although from what i remember,Rick Astley was born within a few miles of where Edwin Astley was born,so i suspect that there must be some kind of connection there,but as far as i know,no one has ever worked it out.

That "Five-A Side Football" single is well worth having just to hear the gorgeous piano/vocal cover of Abba's "Take A Chance On Me"

A 3rd single, Walk At Night was shelved by EastWest after the failure of 5-A-Side Football, if you hunt hard enough you should be able to find 1 track CDR copies of it. It is the album version however so not really that interesting!

I have a 2 track promo of 5-A-Side Football with the most hideous remix on it ever.

The Last Time I Saw Sadie is worth picking up for Benzine Angel which is very very very odd and Come On In My Kitchen.

I have the promo video for Last Time I Saw Sadie ripped to DVD - a nice friend of mine at Warners gave me a copy of the video in a fantastic case packaged like the CD single!

Interesting info about the cancelled third single....i wonder what the bonus track(s) would have been?

Well done for securing a copy of that promo video/cd.........its nice to have friends on the inside.

Incidentally,I bought the "Five-a side football" single at Emma's uncle's record shop in Wallingford.

is there ANY possibility to get a copy of that video, St. Francis ? i have it on VHS so quality isn't that great

i know there's a promo video for five-a-side football, and even two singles (the one with b-sides, another one with 3 remixes), and you can get 'em at ebay

I have a good understanding that Walk At Night's bonus track was to be a remix of Ghost Kitchen that never materialised!

There is also a US promo CD of the 4 selected singles from Winterland, Last Time I Saw Sadie, 5-a-Side Football, Walk At Night and Ghost Kitchen. Maybe Walk At Night was going to be a double A side with the Ghost Kitchen remix?

Funny things happened with Warners UK back in 1998-early 1999, particularly involving the deterioration of EastWest, Coalition and Magnet records. I imagine Emma was one of a number of victims of this company problem, I think Stina may have had some trouble too regarding this as People Are Strange hit the shelves Autumn 1998...

I should be able to copy the DVD though, it's actually a DVD compilation of videos, so it may copy the whole disc, but on the plus side it has on it promos of:

i've seen lately at ebay a lot of winterland copies to be bought; she didn't sell well, her music is not *that* commercial, but promotion is needed for an artist, specially in a big company

anyway, if emma would've released it now, with all these internet publicity, would be more recognised (i've seen how many people post in different forums about a good musician, just because they like 'em, i.e., charlotte martin, and now, joanna newsom)
