I remember reading ages ago (about 18 years ago) about a law suit against Stina because of one of her songs talking about a child abduction and murder.
The suit was brought by the parents of the child who argued Stina was profiteering off of the child's death.
Does anyone have any information or links to this case?
I am just curious how it was argued.

Hi harreh, I haven't heard of this law suit but if it did exist, I'd imagine it was related to 'This Time, John'? I seem to recall that song was inspired by an actual case that happened in Sweden, but I can't recall now where I read about it. Very long time ago now. Maybe Rob B would know more, he's generally the fount of all Stina knowledge around here.

I have to say that I've never heard about any law suit either. Although Stina was inspired to write 'This Time,John' following the torture and murder of 14 year old John Hron in August 1995,other than the use of his first name, the song isn't specifically about the actual murder. If the parents did bring a law suit against Stina I suspect it would have been dismissed straight away.

We did have a thread here back in 2015 where Dave posted up an 2004 interview where one of the questions mentioned the murder/song, but Stina didn't use the opportunity to mention any law suit,assuming that one ever existed.

Possibly but that is going back to 1968. If there was a lawsuit about that case then it would have more likely been Mary Bell herself who was unhappy rather than the victims (two young boys) parents. Google doesn't bring anything up so it may have been just an internet rumour.

For some reason I feel like it was more to do with Mary Bell too. But I think the consensus that it was an internet rumour is probably true.
