I find it so hard to find really really good movies in this day and age, that i've resorted to watching mostly old movies. When i watch anysort of telly it's usually the old movie channel. there are some pretty freakin' good movies out there way before our time. Just wondering if any of you have any classic favorites or whatever.

some of my favorites are:
the seven samurai,
My Fair Lady(i'm big on miss audrey),
Kitty Foyle,
who's afraid of virginia woolf? <-such a twisted movie,
and a bunch of others i cant think of...

what can be considered an old movie? I saw 'The Black Hole' (1979) again this weekend and think it's still a great movie and very advanced for it's time.

Just love Birds by Hitchcock.

The birds was awesome. Ever seen any of those movies that tried to copy it sorta? I saw this movies all about cats attacking....totally a mystery science theathre 3000 movie. it was horrible.

i think the birds v.s. jaws i'd have to go with the birds. definitely.

just saw this movie Madame X...what a messed up movie, that poor woman.

Theres just so many (obviously)...perhaps you should break it down into dirrerent genres...but the most recent dvd i got is THE WICKER MAN (1974),a film ive watched many times ,but now the full length "directors cut"adds mcuh more and improves on the story.
A strange otherworldly film with just the best ending ever.

i've hunted down this for a longish time and finally found it at HMV : The Dead Zone (1983), directed by David Cronenberg for three reasons: Stephen King (actually, this is my fav. book by him), Christopher Walken and David Cronenberg. The combination should have been by rights a very, very scary thriller, but i'm more moved by the human drama. There is some very 6th senseish character and plot development, AND, an awful coincidence occurs right at the first part of the movie, when Walken says something which makes you shudder....

Why does that sound so familiar? isn't that a recent movie or tv show now? But i think I'll have to pick it up if they have it at hollywood video today. you make it sound like it's hard to find..i hope not, cuz i'm sooo tired....i've been searching things out non stop for the past few weeks from stina songs to antique drum parts. Can't anything be easy??!

yeah, it's a tv show now in its second season..starring he who once acted as a small town big bully in Edward Scissorhand...

sounds hard to find because i had been hunting it down! if i can find it in Singapore HMV you sure can find it where you are, because that's an import from where you are...

i love all movies starring Christopher walken..plus it's my fav. book of SK....david cronenburg was just a coincidental that happens to be a plus. now i'm thinking, what if Night. M shymalan directed! the book's better, but it's christopher walken..so i forgive the movie...

It'd be interesting to see a remake done by M. Night Shyamalan but i think he'll rather make original stuff; but hollywood sure might be interested by making it. I hope we'll get that series here over too, there's never any good ones on tv..

'The Dead Zone' is a brilliant adaptation of King, as good as 'Carrie' and 'The Shining', two of my other all-time favourite films.

watched a straight to video B movie called "Blind Fury", a western remake of Zaitoichi in the hotel on vacation the other day. it was surprisingly good, because of the main lead: Rutger Hauer! another one of those actors of the 60s to 90s who seems to have escaped me....

it's such a straightforward interpretation of Zaitoichi, you know, the good old American soldier who learnt martial arts from his time in Vietnam and all that..yet Rutger kept adding that special something to the character. The plot was smultzy, the villians were cut-board, the women were totally bimboistic, there just to provide some cheap sleaze..but Rutger!

so i've bought Bladerunner...and not because of Harrison Ford..going to review that soon..so far i'm quite awed..

i firstly read anthony burgess' book then i watched the kubrick's movie "clockwork orange". film's images were matching with the movie that i made up in my mind. it was so strange and... weird.

yeah, i was traumatized the first time i watched that movie, not to mention very unsober. It took me a while to get up the guts to see it again, but when i did it was awesome. That and The Wall are very disturbing the first time around for the squirmish type.

anyone see The Wall?
