Hi all,

I've always wondered if the UK release of 'The World Is Saved' has censored/obscured cover. The house behind Stina is so shrouded in darkness that you can barely make out a house, let alone that there has been a fire started within (by a smiling gothic Stina perhaps?) and smoke bellowing out behind the house itself.

When I compared the Euro release sleeve with it, the UK sleeve DEFINITELY appears a lot, lot darker - well at least my copy does! To emphasise my point I have included a side by side analysis of the two covers in the Files section.

However, in the example, I have enhanced the contrast of the Euro sleeve slightly, out of curiosity (thus probably destroying the point I am trying to make!) and taken Stina out of the picture so you can marvel at the house more; I admit it - I got carried away!

Please see the image in Files section of the Nordenstam Shelter, in the 'CD Covers' directory to see what I mean.

My point, I guess, is this; the cover seems to be censored in the UK to downplay the menace and foreboding. Can you check your CD sleeve, if you have the Euro version, to check if it is indeed lighter than my UK copy (as seen in its exact contrast in the example given).

I wonder if anyone has any thoughts or insight on this seemingly (and deliberately) obscured cover?

ok maybe it's just a printing problem.
Those colours are not easy to print from what my friend told me (a manager in a printing company) so maybe the company who printed tke sleeve did a bad job.

i guess the us cover is about the same as the uk that's so dark. I never really looked at it until i read some interveiw describing the cover. It'd be nice to see the house a bit more, but stina is the "star" of the picture. if you could actually see right off that the house was on fire...nevermind. i just really love fire.

hey Travis, you're pretty good at the whole lightening thing, can i take advantage of you and have you do my present avatar? I can hardly see the blinkin' thing, but i've seen the real cd cover, so i know i love the picture. (miss kittin & the hacker - first album)

Jp TWIS is the same as the uk that's so dark too.
But, paper quality is glossy(the same as the This Is.)

All Jap Editions are slightly different to other editions.
For example, paper quality,print color,photos,titles ....

And She Closed Her Eyes　→ In Her eyes(Jp Title)
People Are Strange → The Phantoms World(Jp Title)


Looking for differences is enjoyable.

I somehow prefer the more intruiging 'The Phantom's World' to the rather banal 'People Are Strange' (almost worth buying it just for the title change!).

Just to prove I'm not going mad, here's the unaltered cover of the TWIS cd as sold on Amazon (its clearly lighter than any uk-printed copy I can find);

well mine is a bit darker too and it's more yellow; like the snow isn't so clear white but more yellow white

It looks Chinese edition
But it just UK press edition with Chinese obi.

noiser, yours doesn't seem to be the UK version!

By looking at the japanese obi on the photograph posted here, it seems they compare Stina to This mortal Coil? I heard the collective only a few times long time ago but i wouldn't say they sound much alike, would you?

Abt Ricky Lee Jones, I never heard her and it's a common reference to Stina, so I'm not as surprised. But This Mortal Coil??

You say about Chinese Obi? well, I don't know much about Chinese language but I can understand a littele. I think so too it seems they compare Stina to Mortal Coil and Ricky.

In Japan, the record company compare Stina to many diva for promotion. For exeample, Bjork Meets Ricky Lee Jones, Ricky Lee Jones Interact With Victoria Williams, Kittinish Joni Mitchell, Nordic Sinead O'connor, Like A Kate Bush and so on....

I know Ricky and feel very close to Stina. But I don't know This Mortal Coil I try to listen to This Mortal coil
