i always thought it said "Away from always being on your gaurd"
i like it better. :/ I don't know how official those lyrics are though...

I think your interpretation of the lyrics sounds better, but according to numerous web lyric sites (reliable?) it is indeed ..."on your card".

In context the credit card reference does feel right though, with wanting to break free from the shackles of The City (in a mildly Radiohead-esque way);

I seriously once thought (for several months until I saw the lyrics) that Stina may have been using sexual swear words in 'To The Sea';

"Away from flickering nights and crowded streets"

was thus;

"And then from f*@*ing nights and crowded still"

Granted, my version of the lyrics made as much sense as a box of frogs, but there you go.

I agree totally with Ruth about 'To the sea'-I don't think any of the sources for the lyrics of it are official,and I think she sings 'on your guard'.
There is a poor attempt to do 'Slow piece' on a Vangelis lyrics site,but then it's really difficult to make out what she's singing there.
I've had several attempts at 'Miracle' and 'Why don't we' and appealed for help at CQD (but got none ).I might put up my attempts sometime.I have two live versions of both songs which makes it a bit easier.
'First day' is on Travis' site.
If you Google 'Walk ' with FLESHQUARTET rather than Wadling you may come up trumps.I used to have the CD,but I sold it to ....RobB!!

'First day'-That is a particularly weird one,but I'm not certain that the lyrics as published on the web are official.As to what it's about,I'm no wiser than you except that it has that unsettling sense that Stina brings to a lot of her songs.It also has those three choirboys who turn up on 'Little star'.'Crime' and 'Murder in Mairyland Park'which are all songs that (in my book) mix up feelings of love with feelings of guilt and something even more disturbing,murder/suicide/death,which the presence of the angelic choirboys adds a peculiarly powerful frisson to...
