Hey guys
Thought you might be interested in listening to something new.
Emaline Delapaix is an Australian singer songwriter living between Toronto and London. Her website is about to be relaunched with heaps of new stuff including her music, photography and poetry.

She is a huge Stina fan and counts her, Anja Garbarek, Emiliana Torrini and Tori Amos as big influences.

Her name rang a bell for me instantly...and now I remember that
I think she is going to be performing in the living room of some friends of mine in about four weeks time!!..and I'm invited!! I have to go and check this to make sure I'm not dreaming....my memory is very faulty these days

Indeed it IS her,I congratulate my memory.
Hmm,seems I have to pay ?6,even though it's in my mate's frontroom.Damn ,he's the saxplayer in MY band.
It's part of the 'Gigs for Digs' scheme.But what the hell,if she's a Stina fan,I shall be pushing my way onto the closest sofa.
And I shall be browbeating her about Stina afterwards

Playing in people's living rooms? That's cool! That explains why one of her tour dates is "Laughton Village Hall". There's nothing in Laughton except a Pub and a Village Shop! I wonder why she's going there... maybe someone suggested that as their "living room". Maybe I could go...

Oh Emaline plays in living rooms and stuff like that a lot.
She also plays eco and intentional communities around the world.
They tend to be great, intimate shows.
Hope you end up going along.

So I saw Emmaline and her band of three women tonight in my saxplayer's living room-and it was a very good gig.If you can catch them on tour,do.Kind of like Tori Amos but with some perkier songs thrown in.Very communicative,and her band were excellent.The pianist did a mini-set to kick things off-she has a lovely voice and is a useful pianist too,but I found her songs a bit inscrutable;difficult to catch what she was on about.
(And I got as far as saying to Emmaline at half-time that I'd heard she was a big Stina fan,to which she agreed but we didn't get a chance to chat further because my 10-year old was dragging me off to get him some mince pies.)
Bought one of her CD Eps too.
