I managed to skive off seeing Narnia or whatever it's called, (can't stand Christianity being slyly sold to kids) but we did go and see the penguins...which is extraordinary,despite the US fundamentalists latching on to it as some sort of paragon of 'family values' (OK kids ,let's walk ..or rather waddle...70 miles,find a mate,stand around in minus 80 temperatures trying to keep an egg warm with our toes while Mum nips off-70 mile waddle-for a takeaway,swap around while trying to protect junior from marauding auks...) yep,just like my family
Antarctica is so beautiful.It's the star of the show.I'm not surprised it made Veronique change tack last year.

I saw a clip of this on some review programme recently, I love the idea but I was a little put off by what looked to me like digital manipulation of the action? There seemed to be effects of some sort being used, which for me takes the shine off the idea a bit. Maybe I'll rent it anyway when it comes out on DVD.

I wasn't aware of any digital manipulation (I thought they had flippers not digits ho ho)
but seriously,I didn't notice anything-but then I guess that's the point eh
So subtle and cunning these days.If you see docus about how they make kid's animations,it's extraordinary-and to my mind largely unnecessary-the amount of manipulation that goes into them.
Nonetheless the basic documentary is unblemished-it makes you aware of what extrordinary lives penguins lead,which is OK by me.

I really want to see the original French version of this, which supposedly has no Morgan Freeman narration, and french actors voicing the penguins. They discuss the exisential nature of being a penguin throughout the film.

The french version includes the music of Emilie Simon too !

That's because only the French can truly discuss existentialism.I mean,imagine Johnny Morris (RobB will know who I mean)pretending to be a penguin discussing Being and Nothingness.

Now that's a film I want to see!

Watched it recently and I found it a bit boring.
